4 Must-Try Wine Bars on the East Coast
A wine bar is a bar that specializes in providing wine as opposed to beer or liquor. Wine bars can be found all over the world, and our little Red Dot.
Some wine bars, specializing in Italian, French and/or Australian wine and even Champagne, place an emphasis on the wines that are produced in a particular region or country.
With this definition in mind, this blog is sniper-firing at the ‘purist’ wine bars on East Coast Road. There are FOUR, hence our 4 Must-Try Wine Bars on the East Coast.
The East Coast Road starts from Katong V Shopping centre and ends at NTUC Fairprice in Siglap. Along the road are four wine bars that we’re calling out as ‘purist’ wine bars for your consideration.
There are many other bars that serve wine, of course, but we’re not classifying them as wine bars for the sake of this review. The wine bar also must be located on East Coast Road.
Nestled in the incredible foodie suburb of Siglap, The Winery Gourmet | Bar is a relatively new addition to our suburb’s dining pleasures. Also, an addition that is consistently re-inventing themselves in a positive fashion.
We recently dined on their new free-flow 2-hour Sunday Brunch, and what an absolute cracker it was. Super-affordable and really top-drawer food offerings. A mix of Spanish and Japanese, how about that? That brunch is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

They have a dine-in, retail, and delivery service, but only for wine. There is no food. But you can take your own food and wine and dine. Surrounded by hawkers you have some great options there.
It’s a hipster location, usually packed most nights with a gamut of wine aficionados.
Free same delivery for orders over $200 for orders placed before 18:00 that day.

There is no menu at The Straits Wine Company. Like restaurants that will allow to you BYOD (potentially with a corkage fee), The Straits Wine Company has a BYOF. As in, bring your own food. Yep, as long as you are quaffing down on their wines you can bring what you like to eat.
In the Siglap branch, I have even seen customers pop next door to the hawker, Jin Wee Restaurant, and chow down on the amazing charcoal chicken soup whilst enjoying a lovely bottle of red.

I have only drunk here not eaten. Well apart from their fresh oyster platter, which was pretty damned fine it has to be said. It’s a very friendly ‘local’ bar offering a huge selection of wines and some seriously good food. It gets super-busy indoors and ours out onto the al fresco dining and drinking area at the front.
Get there early or book ahead to avoid disappointment.

Wine Connection is like the Din Tai Fun of dumpling restaurants, just for wine. From my personal experience, every location delivers the same quality of service, food, and drinks time and time again.
It has consistent quality island-wide and is extremely good value to boot. It is a must-include in any Wine Bars (2022 Review).
