King Georg Whiting Recipe: Back to some piscatorial recipes for the Wifey, #1 and Strawberry Blonde. But, not just one King George Whiting Recipe, as today I am giving you two in one to add to your very own Pan-Fried Whiting Fish Recipes and Baked Whiting Fish Recipes. I’ll be explaining what temp to fry fish and how long to bake whiting fish, so read on.

I had bought some amazing King George Whiting fillets from my mate Shaun at Butcher Box Joo Chiat, and thought it’s about time to use them so I came up with two new recipes using bits and pieces I had in the fridge and created two amazing, but simple King George Whiting Recipes.

The King George Whiting Recipe is a dish that is best made from fresh seafood. You can buy frozen, of course, but I would always be favouring fresh seafood in any recipe in fact.

I remember days back in Melbourne watching Rex Hunt’s Fishing Adventures. A bearded fisherman who always used to kiss the fish that he caught, which is a rather strange thing to do. Rex and his mate, Bushy (because of his monster moustache), used to then do some cooking, and one of their absolute favourite fish was King George Whiting because of its versatility and taste of course.

Perhaps after trying our Whiting fish recipes you’ll be kissing the fish as well?

You never know…

This recipe has many benefits, including that it is easy to follow and produces consistently good results.

These George Whiting Recipes are delicious dishes that are perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed by all types of people (who enjoy fish, of course).

First, let's have some ISLIFEARECIPE-dia about Whiting Fillets AKA Whitey Fish

Sillagos and spotted whitings are both common names for the coastal marine fish Sillaginidae, which includes the King George whiting (Sillaginodes punctatus). In its native habitat, which extends from Jurien Bay in Western Australia to Botany Bay in New South Wales in the east, the King George whiting is an Australian endemic. There is only one species of King George whiting in the family Sillaginidae, the smelt-whiting family, and the only one in the genus Sillaginodes.

Spot patterns and elongated shape separate this species from other Australian whitings, making it easily identifiable.

When they’re adults, King George whiting can be found in bays and other protected waterways over sand and seagrass beds. Crustaceans, polychaete worms, molluscs, and fish are also prey for this benthic carnivore.

An important commercial fishery based on the King George whiting is worth an estimated five million Australian dollars per year. Anglers love the whiting for its sports and culinary features, making it a popular target for recreational fishing.

It’s one of the world’s most memorable Piscatorial culinary experiences. Grassy, sensual, and with a subtle sweetness.

If you add a little clarified butter  and citrus to it while cooking, it becomes pure paradise.

You’ll love the first of our Whiting fish recipes as that is with browned butter and citrus which is heavenly. Is it Safe to Consume Whiting Fish? Whiting and King George Whiting recipes are plentiful because it is such a versatile fish.

You could gut it, oil and season it and throw it on the BBQ or grill, maybe stuffing the cavity with some lemon and fresh herbs.

You could equally fillet it, leaving the skin on to give a crisp side for texture but also to protect from the direct heat of the grill or BBQ.

You can bake it, pan-fry it, deep fry it, batter it, and the list goes on. It’s a delicate, but firm whitey fish that you can do pretty much anything with.
