It's official: Chido Cafe, Tagbilaran is one of ISLIFEARECIPE's Best Bohol Restaurants
Chido Cafe: Welcome to a hidden gem of Tagbilaran restaurants nestled in the heart of Tagbilaran City, Bohol. I was rummaging around the internet trying to find somewhere near Tagbilaran for lunch, somewhere different, something new. Bingo! I found it on TripAdvisor as #1 of 82 restaurants in Tagbilaran City. Wow, this must be brand new, never heard of it.
It’s just near the Blood Compact. So, made even more perfect as we’re going that way for a trip to Sikatuna Mirror of the World attraction afterward (a blog will be coming to ISLIFERECIPE.net soon). Our bus driver was curb-crawling to find KN Plaza, the address for Chido Cafe.
We enter and it is a WOW. I am in love already. It’s the decor, the cool toons, the view, everything, and we haven’t even looked at the Chido Cafe menu yet. I asked how long have they been here, as they must be super new… FOUR YEARS. Seriously, why have we never seen this place before? We’ve visited the Blood Compact and stayed at Ocean Suites a few times, and never knew this oasis was a 2 minute walk away.
Dear me!!! Chido Cafe is absolutely up there with the food Gods as some of the best I have had in Bohol. Then, add all the rest of the experience in the mix, and yeah this is easily one of the top 5 restaurants in Tagbilaran, believe me!!!

Stellar Specials and Creative Delights on the Chido Cafe Menu, even the kiddies menu is off-the-charts good...
One of the highlights of Chido Cafe is the menu, in fact, three menus. It really pushes Chido up that league table of Tagbilaran restaurants.
And, all that food is coming from this smallest of small Chido Cafe kitchens
Let's get into the impeccable food of Chido Cafe that we chowed down on today
As I look at these photos I am posting I am starting to drool again. The food at this little ‘hidden’ Chido Cafe, with a tiny wee kitchen, is fricking brilliant. We’ll be coming back here, that is without a doubt. There is so much more on that menu to devour.
Are we ready for the Chido Cafe food review? As a family, we tried to order high and wide so you get a really good varied view of the three menus on offer. Again, I will call it: the menu is bonkers good. Ready, steady, GO:
This is the: ‘Whilst you’re waiting, for free’ – curry popcorn with Calamansi. Chido Cafe can’t even go basic on their popcorn bless them, and I love the place for that. Number 1 it’s free, but then let’s make it curry flavour and add fresh Calamnsi atop for your personal seasoning preference. Yep: INCREDIBLE FREE POPCORN, just to keep the interest levels up – as if it needed it in the first place…
Mexican Street Corn at PHP 175
Oh my. Now we’re getting into it. Hello gorgeous. Well, twins actually as we ordered two of these. Jude Jude and me LOVE Mexican sweetcorn so went hard on this.
Mango Pork Meatballs with Rice at PHP 200
Wifey can’t resist the Kiddie’s Menu, and the offering of Mango Pork Meatballs. And post the second order of this dish we all agreed as to why. Best meatballs of all time. Super-juicy, seasoned to perfection, and then add that tangy mango sauce. Kaboom!!! This is a wow, move over kids the adults are owning your menu now!!!
Baja HaHa Tacos @ PHP 345
Three of these were ordered, and within three minutes they were no more. Feedback from the crew was that these were simply delicious, very fresh fish, not oily, sweet, and savoury punches. Brilliant dish, and a name that kept us laughing for ages: Baja HaHa Tacos… BOOMSKI!!!
Banh Mi Now @ PHP 290
Two of these were ordered. One spicy and one non-spicy. Amy devoured hers in the blink of an eye. Great feedback was given, well it is the same meatballs as the kiddie’s menu, and they were sublime, just now in a Banh Mi with loads of other goodies.
DanDan Noodles Hidden Dragon at PHP 330
Super-savoury minced pork, sour sauce with hot peppercorns, and freshly wilted veggies. I’ll go out on a limb and say, I absolutely loved these. Stunning noodles. Beer food on steroids. I could eat bowl after bowl of this. A must-try in Chido Cafe.
The Breakfast Taco Club @ $ PHP 325
OK, this take forever to arrive, in fact, our server even came up to apologise. I thought they had seriously forgotten it or not taken this down in the order. But, wow, so glad it was on the order and that we waited for this.
What an absolutely spanking taco dish this is. Amazing in fact. This is a MUST-TRY when you come to Chido Cafe. It’s like a Mexican brekkie. Crispy fried potatoes, beautiful scrambled eggs, homemade Chorizo to die for, and then topped with that sour and tangy salsa verde. Winner winner: Taco lunch (OK, that doesn’t rhyme, but who cares?). A stunner of a dish that I will likely have, every time I return to Chido Cafe. WOOF!!!
Mango and Puffed Rice Sundae – no idea of the $ sorry
Well hello there you beautiful thing, you. On the specials board was this Sundae offering, and I just had to lean in and get on it. What more could you ask for: ice-cream, fresh mango, toasted coconut, puffed rice, and condensed milk? Ding dong!!!
I mean how good does that marriage of flavours sound? An yeah, they worked so very well. It was such a wonderful dessert. Not so sweet, and really refreshing to the palate, akin to a palate cleanser with sour tones from the mango. What a beauty!!!
Pop Art Gourmet Popsicles at PHP 75
Need I say any more? It’s a fudge flavoured popsicle, AKA FudgeSicle. I love it. They also have: sweet chili mango, peanut, butterscotch, root beer float, and so on.
They also have (subject to availability) alcoholic versions, such as: pina colada, sangria, dark and stormy, mojito and so on. Get in there.
Chido Cafe takes great pride in providing exceptional service that goes above and beyond. They have an attentive staff that ensures you feel welcome from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. They understand the importance of attention to detail, and a great example was a major delay on my Breakfast Club Tacos, but they came and explained, and it was then groovy. I will wait, and I was SO glad I did.

Suffice it to say it is in a really weird location that you can’t really see from the main road. Ask your driver, or tricycle to head to the Blood Compact/Ocean Suites, then walk back about 2 minutes towards Tagbilaran City on the same side of the road, and look for the strange green building with KN Plaza written on it.
