For a start, the hotel was absolutely incredible. Well, when I say hotel I mean a series of luxury villas facing Singapore and the crystal blue seas of The Straits. It truly was just amazing. Off we trotted here for Mary’s birthday, and the usual 30-day visa run (needed at the time). Rooftop party floor, a private pool, massive bedrooms, and golf buggies to get you around. This was true indulgence at Montigo Resorts @ Batam, Indonesia.

Then we come to the food. We only ate at Tadd’s restaurant, as we were advised by the front desk to choose there. It was lovely. The staff was incredible, doting on Baby Jude and looking after him continually. The menu was a mix of the Western and local fair – of course, we went 100% for the latter option every time, and I am so very glad that we did. In fact, I had the same dish two times running it was that good. We loved it here, hence giving it an Exquisite Montigo Resorts @ Batam, Indonesia Review (2023)

What about the food at Montigo Resort Batam?

Montigo Bay Resort Batam Ikan Kakap Bakar

Here is Mary’s dish from day one of our stay, the delicious-looking fish dish of Ikan Kakap Bakar. It is grilled snapper, with Turmeric and coconut cream sauce – see the yellow of the Turmeric. That is accompanied by sautéed spinach with Ginamos (Filipino for shrimp paste) and yellow rice – again check out the Turmeric. Mary stated absolute delight in this choice by groaning every time she took a mouthful. Looks good too.

Montigo Resorts Batam Gado Gado

Not a massive fan of this one it has to be said, but when in Rome… Gado Gado is an Indonesian salad – loads of ingredients in this from long beans, beansprouts, peanuts, quail eggs, bean curd, chicken sate, and crackers. Wow! That is indeed a lot. It was OK but to be honest, I think I would have added salt and pepper to give it some flavor punch.

Montigo Resorts Batam Tahu Tek

Here comes the BOOM. My dish, the one that I had two days running, is this beautiful thing. Also know as Tahu Tek. This was a chef recommendation and there is no doubt why, as this was an absolute belter. Vegetarian too, which is a little unusual for me, but man so good. It’s basically an egg and tofu omelette, but also contains beansprouts and comes with this absolutely decadent black peanut sauce which is simply divine.

A usual garnish of some spinach, grated carrot, and cucumber. Basically, get that stuff off the top and let me get to the good stuff. Long may this continue to be a chef recommendation, as I think I’ll be having this every time we go back. YUM!!

Tadd's Restaurant Montigo Resort

A casual lunch, a relaxing dinner, a snack while the kids play at neighbouring Tilo Kids Club, or a fresh coconut between laps in the main pool, TADD’S is the perfect spot for delicious repose. Serving local, Asian, and Western comfort cuisine in a relaxed semi-al-fresco poolside setting, the all-day dining café’s contemporary takes on traditional favourites, including the Gado Gado Salad, the Montigo Club Sandwich, and the Coconut Crème Brûlée, are sure to please.

TIIGO Beach Club, Montigo Resort Batam

TIIGO Beach Club is cool across every detail. Unwind in the comfort of shaded outdoor loungers, at the sand park or on the cabana beds, as you lazily gaze out at the magical Montigo sunset. To indulge the tastebuds, an extensive drinks menu featuring over 50 tempting cocktails and signature spirits is served alongside a selection of delectable bar bites. At nightfall, the resident DJ takes to the decks, transforming the space into an electric, groovy dance floor.

Pantai, Montigo Resort Batam

Adjacent to the main lobby, the intimate kelong-style restaurant is tucked away in a cocoon of natural beauty, a gentle breeze and the soft sway of trees. Pantai, meaning ‘beach’ in Bahasa, Indonesia, offers an extensive menu featuring fresh, locally-sourced produce and ingredients, rendering the Pantai experience both charming and delightful.

Cafe Montigo

Situated next to TADD’S and a stone’s throw away from TILO Kids Club, Café Montigo serves up a quaint and cosy space for friends and families to get together. Grab and go with a cup of joe or take a break with a slice of cake, Café Montigo is perfect for a casual gourmet stopover.
