Coco Grove Beach Resort is a popular beachfront resort located in Siquijor, Philippines, one of the very best Siquijor Island resorts, in fact. Situated along a beautiful white sand beach with turquoise waters, the resort offers a range of accommodations including native-style cottages and villas. The resort provides a tranquil and relaxing environment for guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the island.
It really doesn’t get much better than this, this truly is paradise-found. Yet again, this boy from Margate in the UK is pinching himself. I am so very lucky. It’s seriously so beautiful here with nothing really high-rise like other resort hotels, we had a sea-view beachfront cottage, and you literally wake up to views of the sea, and take a wee walk along the beach to breakfast. Very akin to one of our favorite locations on Panglao Island, South Palms Beach Resort.
Oh man, the serenity!!!
The Spaniards called Siquijor the island Isla del Fuego (“Island of Fire”), because the island gave off an eerie glow, from the great swarms of fireflies that lived in the numerous Molave Trees on the island.

It surely got my vote, and some!!!
Coco Grove Beach Resort Reservations can be made simply by clicking the blue button above. Of course, Coco Grove Beach Resort room rates will vary, but we got a cracking deal for a family 2-bedroom bungalow, and sea view cottage on the beach.
20 minutes away from the Coco Grove Beach Resort is Siquijor Sky Diving: a MUST for you thrill seekers and daredevils. This is bucket-list stuff in the making
The resort is known for its friendly and attentive staff, who provide excellent service to guests. Literally, I have coined this place The Resort of Smiles. With its picturesque setting and serene atmosphere, Coco Grove Beach Resort is THE ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful family beach getaway in paradise.
We arrived on the ApeKop ferry from Bohol at about 13:00, so ideally a time for lunch. We sat under one of the beach tiki cottages, at a huge family dining table, with toes in the sand, warm sea breezes gently wafting us, topaz waves crashing, surrounded by 360 degrees of the most beautiful scenery, and ambient tunes circling through the air. It was magical, truly magical.
Coco Grove Beach Resort is a popular beachfront resort located in San Juan, Siquijor, Philippines. It offers a stunning 800-meter white sand beach surrounded by turquoise waters, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing beach vacation. The resort features a range of native-style cottages and villas, designed to provide guests with a comfortable and authentic island experience.
One of the highlights of Coco Grove Beach Resort is its beautiful natural surroundings. Guests can enjoy swimming in the clear waters, lounging on the beach, or exploring the vibrant coral reefs just off the shore. The resort also offers various activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and boat tours, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty.
The resort aims to create a peaceful and serene atmosphere for its guests, with amenities such as air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and private balconies or terraces in some rooms.
Guests can also indulge in a variety of dining options at Coco Grove Beach Resort. The Salamandas Restaurant offers a menu of delicious local Filipino cuisine and international dishes, and there are also beachfront bars where visitors can enjoy refreshing drinks while taking in the most amazing sea and beach views, be that day or night.
I have to say for what you are going to be paying they are seriously up there with the best of the best, if not the best of what we have experienced in our many Filipino staycations.
We booked a Villa with Sea View and a Family Room with Sea View. Both were wonderful, with patios, loungers, and incredible views of the sea to indulge in at your leisure.
This is our Sea View Villa. Massive double bed, heaps of space, lounge, and seating area. The bathroom was colossal with bathtub, shower, and twin sinks.
Stunning views from the patio, as in STUNNING. Literally every morning we’d wake, and walk out to this view. A short five-minute walk along the beach with our feet in the crashing surf to the Salamandas Restaurant for our breakfast on the beach. What a cracking room this is. Blessed!!!
Coco Grove Beach Resort offers various amenities and facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for its guests. The resort features two outdoor swimming pools (our favorite was the one with the swim-up bar on the beach), free Wi-Fi access, complimentary breakfast, and free parking. Guests can also enjoy beachfront dining at the Salamandas Restaurant, which serves a variety of local and international cuisine.
- Total of 96 rooms
- 3 swimming pools
- 3 restaurants
- Garden and Pool Bars
- Spa
- Wi-Fi area
- Functions Room
- Dive Shop and Dive Center and more…
This is the Olympic-sized swimming pool down on the beach. Salt-water pool as well, which I love. Just check those views out, it is a pool in paradise. I am actually taking this photo from a seat in the swim-up pool bar: Coco Palm Bar. Yes, it is all rather relaxing and just inequitably stunning.
And here is Coco Palm Bar from the other way, this is a great spot for sundowners for happy hour every day, just before that so laborious (not!) of walks along the beach to get your teeth sunk into something delicious at Salamandas Restaurant. I think you’ll agree, this is not your usual concrete jungle, high-rise resort: far from it, Coco Grove Beach Resort is designed with nature in mind first, the hotel blends with the beach and surrounding fauna. It’s quite amazing.
Up near the resort’s main entrance is another pool. I have to admit we did not frequent this one, as had a major preference for the sea and beach view, proximity to the bars and restaurants, and the sea and beach of course. Still, it is rather elegant is it not? This is the Casa Coco Pool.
And then there is that 800-meter long beach with its white talcum sand, and topaz seas. Dotted everywhere are small huts to provide some much-needed respite from the sun. These are perfect for upping stumps, and just relaxing over an awesome cocktail, reading a book, or in my case, writing a blog or two about the wonderful experiences of our stay.
Temple Spa is a relatively new addition to Coco Grove Beach Resort, offering its guests a most-excellent spa and wellness haven nestled in the resort. Guests can choose between suites and rooms designed for couples or single travelers looking for quiet relaxation and spa pampering right at their doorstep.
The spa treatments include full body massage, body scrubs, and spa indulgence packages. Peace and bliss. Body, mind, and soul as they say on their website. We had the traditional Swedish massage and my oh my it was good. You just walk into the spa and immediately feel relaxed from the ambient tunes, beauty and calmness of the surroundings, and aromas of the various oils and scented candles.
Open from 10am to 10pm.
Salamandas Restaurant specializes in catch-of-the-day seafood offerings (try the White Snapper), international cuisine with an island influence, signature dishes, and local Filipino favorites. All this is served in an al fresco Filipino Kubo, or right on the beach with your toes in the sand.
Watch this blog for a separate blog review of the food we enjoyed at Salamandas Restaurant. Sadly, they don’t offer up any links to Salamandas Restaurant Menu offerings.
Opening Hours: 6am – 10pm
Breakfast Hours: 6am – 10am only
I went for the American Breakfast, which is included in the room rate. They also have Filipino breakfast offerings with Tocino, Corned Beef, Dried Fish, and so on. Each breakfast comes with a platter of fresh fruit, a juice of your choice, and copious amounts of coffee. Very delicious, and made even more so as you sit and gaze over blue skies and turquoise seas with those toes in the sand. Heavenly dining!!!
It was my wife’s and my Wedding Anniversary whilst there, so I pushed the boat out in a big way and went for the special Salamandas Restaurant Romantic Beach Dinner:
- Private dining on the beach,
- Rose petals,
- Beach candles and native flowers,
- Bouquet of flowers,
- Champagne, and so on.
Oh yes. This was a winner. Again, check out the hand-written board. That alone made this dinner and our anniversary such a special occasion. This was a WOW dinner, and highly recommended no matter what your occasion is.
And then my Wife got me back. Yes, on the same trip, it was also my birthday and my daughter’s birthday (same date). So Wifey booked another special dining experience at Salamandas Restaurant with this massive family dining table on the beach, with flaming torches, flower petals everywhere, and tapas-style sharing platters for us all.
I am blessed, truly blessed. What an incredible way to celebrate your birthday. We even had beach games for the kids after we finished dining. It’s the end of a birthday I surely won’t be forgetting any time soon. Just: WOW!!!

Sabas Beach
This is a public beach located in Lazi, Siquijor, Philippines. It is known for its scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The beach features soft white sand, clear turquoise waters, and stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
The beach is a great spot for swimming, sunbathing, and beach-combing. Visitors can relax under the shade of coconut trees, take long walks along the shoreline, or simply enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. The crystal-clear waters are also ideal for snorkeling and diving, allowing visitors to explore the vibrant underwater world.
We stopped at Sabas Beach this day to get some drinks and a late lunch, but guess what…? The Chef had not turned up that day, so the kitchen closed, and we made our way to a really cool place. For that place, I’ll be writing up a separate blog.
Cambugahay Falls
Wow, what a stunning natural attraction located in Lazi, Siquijor, Philippines. It is a three-tiered waterfall with crystal-clear turquoise waters, surrounded by lush greenery. When I say turquoise I really mean it, none of the photos have been photo-shopped – that blue is the real blue. It’s incredible.
The falls are famous for their picturesque setting and inviting swimming holes, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
To reach Cambugahay Falls, visitors need to hike down a flight of stairs (like 185 of them – going down was OK…), which adds to the adventure and charm of the experience. I say that with tongue in cheek because after having to walk back up the 185 steps I had a completely different word or two at the front of my mind to explain the experience…
The falls are known for their cool and refreshing waters, inviting visitors to take a dip and relax amidst the natural beauty. The tiers of the falls create natural pools where visitors can swim, play, and enjoy the serene ambiance.
One of the highlights of Cambugahay Falls is the rope swings that hangs from a tree. Visitors can channel their inner Tarzan and swing into the clear waters below, adding an extra element of fun and excitement to the visit. The swinging rope has become an iconic feature of the falls and is a favorite activity for many visitors: all my kids got into this in a big way, as you can see on our YouTube.
In addition to swimming and swinging, there are bamboo rafts available for rent, allowing visitors to float on the pools and appreciate the beauty of the falls from a different perspective. The serene atmosphere, combined with the natural beauty of the falls, creates a tranquil and unforgettable experience.
The Broomstick Experience
Siquijor, a small island province in the Philippines, is known for its mystical and enchanting reputation. One of the popular tourist attractions on the island is the “broomstick” experience at Hapitanan in Lazi, Siquijor. The broomstick ride offers visitors the opportunity to have their photos taken while posing as if they are flying on a broomstick. It’s a fun and whimsical activity that adds to the island’s charm and allure. Participants are usually asked to make a donation in exchange for the experience.
The broomstick experience at Hapitanan is located on Siquijor Circumferential Road in Lazi.
Century-Old Balete Tree
This 400-year-old Balete Tree, which is situated in the barangay of Campalanas in Lazi, is regarded as the oldest and largest in the province of Siquijor. The fact that a natural spring runs just underneath the trees adds to its mysterious appeal. Locals only know that the water is clean and safe, but they do not know where or why it flows.
The man-made pool, where fish swim, receives the cold spring water from the tree. If one feels the need for a quick foot spa, they can simply put their feet into the water, where the fish physicians will eat away any extra skin. The entrance to this tourist attraction is free, but everyone is urged to make a donation to help keep it up.
In Filipino folklore, the Balete Trees are known to be the home of mysterious and mythical creatures at night. Some folk stories say that these creatures do their rituals in front of the trees as a sign of worship or thanksgiving for home and protection.
Creatures like (Dwende) elves, (Tikbalang) horse demons, (Diwata) fairies, and my favorite and look-a-likey The Kapre are some of the said mythical creatures that live within the Balete Trees.
