L'ENTRECOTE SIGLAP REVIEW: Will this be the Best Steak in Singapore?
L’Entrecote Siglap Review: Situated where our mates Platypus used to reside in Siglap, next door to Iza is this icon originally hailing from Duxton Hill. Siglap foodies, and Islifearecipe welcome with open-arms our soon to be BFFs, L’Entrecote Siglap: The Steak and Fries Bistro. We mentioned them before in our blog review: 24 Incredible Steak Restaurants And we, at Islifearecipe, commit to visit as soon as they open to write up a full review of their new locale in the heart of Siglap.
Where is the best steak on the East Coast? Could it be here...?
Yes, folks, as Islifearecipe committed we awaited the opening and then stormed the tables of this Parisian-style steak frites bistro, and I have to say we were massively impressed. It is up there with the best restaurant in Siglap, and absolutely some of the best steak on the East Coast and best steak in Singapore. This has nowe become a must-try for you. We gorged ourselves just so you can get a view of a variety of their dishes, from the very concise but stunner of a L’Entrecote Siglap Menu.
L'Entrecote Steakhouse Siglap Review
What to eat on the L'Entrecote Siglap Menu? Well here is what we ate today
The food on the L’Entrecote Menu is quality. It really is. The menu at L’Entrecôte Siglap is short, charismatic, and relentless in its Parisian-style focus — clearly, they have chosen a few things that they will aspite to do perfectly. At its heart sits the signature entrecôte steak, cooked precisely to your preferred doneness and bathed in the house’s famous secret sauce (yes, folks I have been doing my research, because it is the stuff of legend — rich, tangy, and somehow the perfect partner to a side of satisfyingly crispy golden salted frites.
It’s not a “choose from 50 mains” kind of place; it’s a steak and frites house that has clearly chosen its lane and driven it like a F1 racer. Each plate arrives with that rustic French-bistro charm, accompanied by a simple green salad with walnuts and a mustard dressing that cuts through the richness.
But don’t let the pared-down list fool you into thinking the experience is one-note. The menu has savoury starters, like perfectly baked camambert and bone marrow with crisp seasonal salad, and a beautiful selection of tempting desserts — think a caramelised crème brûlée or a light, creamy mousse that feels like a breath of fresh evening air after the glorious steak main – yes I did indeed say that. For those who like a tipple with their meal, there’s a tight and super-affordable wine list built to lift the heft of the beef, and Wife-Beater on tap.
Everything at L’Entrecôte Siglap feels purposeful: straightforward, delicious, and just the right side of indulgent — the kind of menu that makes you promise to return, before you’ve even finished – and that goes for us. I tell you, this is going to be a family K repeat favourite, and some. Welcome to the Siglap Hood, our dear friends from L’Entrecote Siglap. We have been baptised in your delicious food glory, and we want more!!!
Please let me apologise for the pictures. The lighting is quite shadowy, and I did not have my light ring, perhaps I need to go back and eat again to get more photos… great excuse!!!
OEUFS MIMOSA À LA TRUFFE NOIRE $14
Fresh hen eggs with silky whipped yolks and black truffle. A sophisticated take on a French bistro staple. I saw these and thought back to being a kid and my Mum’s Devilled Eggs, with Vol Au Vents, usually on the Queen’s Birthday or something like that. Well these are that and some. So light and fluffy, with beautiful seasoning and then that little hit of floral from the truffle. Absolute crackers (did you get that? Made from eggs… crackers… I give up…)
SOUPE À L'OIGNON $16
Classic French onion soup with gratinated cheese. I am calling it, along with my Foodie BFF Jude Jude. We both reckon this is the best I have ever had. It is up there and some in the soupy clouds with the soupy God’s of France. Little onion and cheese angels were a plucking (I said plucking) their harps to celebrate the majesty of this soup. Totally delicious and something you need to get in your life. I mean, just check out the Jude-meister not wasting a single drop of this soup nectar.
OVEN-BAKED BEEF MARROW $28
With Guérande sea salt and baquette. OK to be balanced. This would be the one dish I would give an “It was OK” to, and also at $28, it is quite punchy, especially for stuff I know how much it costs from Eater’s Market next door… It was good, it really was, but I think it needs a little citrus on there to cut through… Just sayin’
STEAK TARTARE $21
Fresh hand-cut steak tartare with gerkins, herbs and spices. Add $6 for Avruga Caviar. Back we get to AAA with the next dish served up. This is a WOW steak tartare. Savoury, sour, seasoned to perfection, super-soft with a nice chew. It is just so damned good, and this one will be a repeat, repeat, repeat for me and Jude, that is for certain!!! WOOF!!!
OVEN-BAKED CAMEMBERT CHEESE $28
Served with steamed potatoes, cornichons and baguette. Classic French. You just can’t fault it. I love baking camemberts, and will usually add in some garlic and maybe rosemary, but this was naked, and it was just so incredibly delicious. Unctuous cheesy dipping, and then the nutty baked rind to add another flavour level. Just sooooo good. And then I tried it with the potatoes, and a little sea salt, WTF just happened – BOOMSKI!!! You MUST eat this!!!
TRIMMED ENTRECÔTE STEAK $38.80
This is their crown jewel – the famous L’Entrecôte steak with their legendary secret sauce generously poured over tender sliced steak. Served with golden French fries and green salad with walnuts. Choose your doneness, but just make sure it is Saignant (medium rare). This was like steak butter today cooked to that doneness.
The steak, frites and sauce are literally a match made in heaven. That sauce is to die for, and I nearly did as I had so much of it I was not far off drowning in it. I did some research and know the Parisian-classic recipe now, but I guarantee there are some hidden secrets in this recipe from L’Entrecote. Must-try the salted frites as sauce dippers, a totally holy moly foodie moment. Quality steak, buttery bites with a little chew, perfact seasoning again and then that unique TWANG of the sauce. It is indeed KILLER!!! No airs nor graces, just simple plating of quality food. Winner Winner L’Entrecote Lunch (yeah it doesn’t rhyme, like do I care…).
*Fries are Free Flow! Just ask for more* Top your steak with pan-seared foie gras for an extra touch of luxury (Rossini style) + $12.
CRÈME BRÛLÊE $16
Madagascar Vanilla bean cream with caramelised sugar crackling top. And then this bad boy turns up. I always order creme brulee when it is on a menu, why you may ask. Well a long time ago when I visited Bali once, I went to a restaurant owned by a rather famous French Chef, Chris Salans. He slayed me with his creme brulee, and literally eight years later I am still raving about it. OK, so guess what… I don’t need to go back to Bali again for one of the best creme brulees ever, yep it is now in my new local French Bistro in Siglap: happiest of brulee days…
🥩 A Siglap Steak-Frites Tease: L’Entrecôte’s East Coast Arrival. What does Islifearecipe think this is going to be like? Well, if you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a classic French steakhouse decided to move next door down the East Coast, then say “bonjour” to L’Entrecôte Siglap — the new steak and frites restaurant that’s getting tongues wagging from Bedok all the way back to Marine Parade. The team behind this much-buzzed bistro is already famous in Singapore for its signature trimmed entrecôte steak bathed in a legendary secret sauce with unlimited crisp golden fries and fresh green salad with mustard dressing and walnuts — the staple combo that has had foodies keen to queue up again and again since 2010.
Situated in a neighbourhood where our beloved hawkers, Spanish, Greek, and Bistros usually steal the headlines, this upcoming steakhouse feels like a flamboyant francophone brother strolling into a hawker centre in loafers, immaculately dressed, ordering a double espresso whilst smoking a Guitane — and Siglap is immediately intrigued. Rumour has it that the Siglap branch will carry over the same good-time energy and hearty steak-frites philosophy that diners have loved at the Duxton Hill and River Valley locations, with plans to bring “our very serious steak frites habit to the East.”
📍 A Classic That’s Tasteful, Not Pretentious
For the uninitiated, the classic steak and frites combo here means a single main star: juicy trimmed steak cooked just how you like it, Islifearecipe recommends saignant (AKA medium-rare), slathered in that famous sauce that regulars talk about with a sort of nostalgic glint in their eyes. At the original outlets, the dish itself was once paired with unlimited crispy fries and a simple walnut salad — service that felt generous enough to make you want to thank the chef personally.
Most first-timers have come away with bold opinions: some say the steak and sauce are perfect for the price at casual bistro rates, and even the critics grudgingly admit that the frites alone are delicious enough to keep you coming back. There’s an easy camaraderie about sitting down for steak here, not the stiff, tucked-in-napkin type, whispered conversations type of steakhouse vibe.

🍷 What the L'Entrecote Siglap Spot Could Mean for the East Coast
Siglap’s dining scene has matured — once known primarily for chill cafés, neighbourhood hawkers and cafes that serve avo toast with earnest pride, now it’s ready for destination restaurants and we’ve seen Spanish, Korean, Mexican, Burmese, Japanese, Greek and more of late. Combining hearty plates with a casual but polished setting, this steakhouse gig might quickly become an East Coast favourite for dinner plans, neighbourhood celebrations, or Sunday brunch with serious friends who mean business about meat.
And hey, let’s face it — if a place promising steak, fries and a cheeky glass of red wine needed to plant its flag somewhere, the East Coast and Siglap with our sea breezes and sprawling foodies feels like the right fit.
