Here’s the restaurant frontage – not bad at all says I. Me and the kids were literally sitting as you walk in the restaurant where the guy is standing – literally at the bar. Love my kids!!! Good choice ha ha. We’d been to the dentist in the same building, and I had two starving kids desperate for food – this place happens to be about 20 steps from the building entrance – needs must, so in we trot to try somewhere new.

Oh yeah baby I am so a leg man. Well Iberico leg hams that is (sorry Mary ha ha). And yes Mr Mangan has it – not as advanced as Edward’s (MLSP) without a shadow of a doubt with only one leg on offer. But tasty indeed it was.

This was an incredible dish. You get your very own little jar full of foie gras pate, with some toast and some compote. We also added some spicy cashew to the list, as you can see in the foreground. This was just truly wonderful – you know how much I love foie gras, so this for me was a cracker. Have to admit I did steal most of this one away from the kids – mine, all mine I tells you!!!

We actually stayed on a while at the restaurant and because it was open kitchen we had the chance to watch them making the flat breads. Sort of makes you think twice about being a sous chef ha ha. The consumer of the finished product is the job I most like clearly. This was flat bread from heaven, hand made on premise, smothered in garlic and pesto and then baked. Served with some roasted red capsicum dip. My gosh I loved this so very much. One of the best garlic breads I have had.

Trying to remember the sauce on this now. It was sashimi grade tuna, smothered in this sweet, tangy sauce – Japanese style, so I assume Mirin, Sake, and something like Yuzu with some crumbly light cheese atop. Need I say more. I mean just look at it. Want some. Get down there!!!

Beer food on steroids next. Roasted green peppers, sweet, and a little spicy. Served on this roasted, red capsicum sauce. A perfect match. A little dip dip, bite off the end. Another beer please waiter – thanks very much!

Despite, all the tapas Oliver decides he needs a full blown main course too. Out comes a big Wagyu steak, poached egg, grilled tomatoes, grilled Japanese mushrooms, and some more bread. It was really good, but come on Ollie a full main course too after all that tapas, ha ha. Good choice though it has to be said. Check that wagyu – perfectly cooked!

So my friends – I would say pop down to here if you are in that neck of the woods. Of look up Mr Mengan’s other establishments as it does indeed seem there are a few on the island. I really liked the casual nature of this one. Just sat at the bar, chatting, munching, drinking and watching the food being prepared.
