Gaig Restaurant Reviews: Best Catalan Resto in Singapore? Read on...
Gaig Restaurant Reviews: If you’re searching for one of the most exceptional Spanish foodie experiences in Singapore, one that will have the Chef and crew taking you straight to the heart of Catalonia (that’s in Spain, folks), Gaig Restaurant should be at the top of your list. Tucked away in the bustling Singaporean cityscape as one of the Stanley Road Restaurants, Gaig masterfully blends the rich traditions of Barcelona with a contemporary dining experience in the wee Red Dot.
Helmed by talented Executive Chef Marti Carlos Martinez, a protégé of Michelin Star Chef Carles Gaig, the restaurant is an extension of the Michelin-starred Gaig establishment in Barcelona. From its carefully curated menu to its intimate ambience, with and the most awesome crew led by our BFFs Joseba and Nuria, Gaig promises a feast that’s authentic and downright delicious.
Stepping into Gaig, you’re immediately enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both refined and approachable. The restaurant’s design, featuring minimalist decor with Mediterranean touches, perfectly complements the dining experience. It’s not just about the food here—it’s the storytelling. There’s also a carefully curated music soundtrack aligned to the moods of the times of day, and maybe even some ‘scentology’ coming soon.
Each dish is a tribute to Catalonia’s rich culinary history, crafted with techniques passed down through Gaig-family generations and ingredients sourced both locally and from Spain. If you’re a long-time fan of Spanish cuisine, Gaig sets the stage for an unforgettable meal.
What truly sets Gaig apart is its dedication to preserving the essence of traditional Catalan dishes while infusing them with a modern twist. From hearty stews to delicate seafood dishes, every bite is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity. For example the stacked oxtail paella with black truffle: WOOF!!!
This isn’t just another Spanish tapas bar—it’s a beautiful restaurant that celebrates the diversity and depth of Catalonia’s food. Whether you’re here to indulge in their signature cannelloni or explore seasonal specials, Gaig will categorically give you a dining experience that is both timeless and contemporary, making it a standout in Singapore’s vibrant food scene.

Gaig Restaurant Reviews: Christmas Dinner
Of course, I had to bring the crew to Gaig Restaurant again for Kennett-clan Xmas Eve dinner. Seriously we have a new favourite Spanish Tapas restaurant. We have our favourite Italian, Mexican, Indian, Hawkers etc. too. I love foodie Singapore. The guys deserved a wonderful dinner experience tonight and boy did they get it. I was a little nervous as I had hyped this up, and my lot are massive foodie critics. The one for me was the octopus. I have openly stated to wifey that this will be the very best octopus dish she will ever eat. We shall see.
A few repeat dishes from Xmas lunch with Ruthers and Ranners, but hey they are so good who cares? Plus one or two new ones. So check out our family Gaig Restaurant Review below
Jamon Iberico
Jamón Ibérico 36 Months Cured, 60g @ $39 SGD
I could not even get to take a photo before Jude stuck his hand in to get chomping on this. Just sublime Iberico Jamon. Just look at the colour of this. You even get a hint of acorn nuttiness which is what they feed the pigs. It’s so amazing. Try putting the Jamon Iberico onto the Pan con Tomate, drizzle a little Olive Oil: HEAVENLY!!!
Salmorejo Soup from Gaig Singapore Restaurant
Traditional Southern Spanish Cold Tomato Soup with Jamón Ibérico Ice Cream @ $26 SGD
A new one, a new one. I didn’t get to try this one last time, but I just had to tonight. Anything on a menu that states it has Jamon ice cream in a bowl of soup has to be tried. And I am so glad we did. This is a tomato soup on steroids. Mini cherry tomatoes, sea grapes (delicious edible seaweed), a punchy tomato soup, Burrata cheese, and that quenelle of Jamon ice cream. It’s complex. It is just heavenly. We all sat in silence for the first spoon or two contemplating what just hit our taste buds. Like foodie pop-rocks, this dish is a flavour explosion. Just incredible.
Happy family snap and also our Nuria in the back-ground. Happy Christmas Family K, and to Nuria and the crew. What a wonderful evening for this foodie family.
Salt-cured Foie Gras at Gaig Singapore
I like this shot of the foie gras. You can see the side of it now and see how it is a little dried out by the salt-curing. My goodness, this is a crazy good dish. Jude went for this in a big way, and it was the 1st time for him to try foie gras.
I don’t have the price for this as it is not on the 2024 current menu.
Gaig Restaurant Croquettes
Of course, we had the Jamon Croquettes again. You can’t have them, they’re mine. Meaty, creamy, slight cheesy overtones, but so damned splendid. Oh man, this with an icy cold beer… heaven on a plate.
I don’t have the price for this as it is not on the 2024 current menu.
No photo of La Bomba this time, but rather of the 6-year-old trying the serious chilli padi sauce. I love it, and WOW I am amazed this little lad had a go and then again, and again with increasing size of a mouthful.
Way to go little man! Daddy is seriously proud and very impressed. And then, even Amy had a go. Watch the Kids Chilli Challenge video.
Impressed by Amy and Jude tonight. Both of them stepped up to the plate (literally) and took on a Chili Challenge with the Bomba sauce. Even Nuria was amazed at the two of them, saying it took her ages to get used to the heat of the dish. And believe me, the pictures above don’t do it justice as to the amount they were eating.
Catalonia Octopus: Gaig Singapore
Pulpo Charcoal Grilled Octopus with Cauliflower Textures, 120g @ $45 SGD
Winner, winner Octopus dinner. GAIG and I did it. This is officially wifey’s #1 octopus dish. She was chatting with Nuria, and they gassed on about how octopus in Singapore is chewy and you don’t get the taste of the octopus. They then discussed again how they made their dish here. Wifey was then chatting about how tender it was and how you could taste the sea of Catalonia. Yeah, this is just an ACE!!!
El Canelón de Gaig: Gaig Singapore Restaurant
Beef and Pork Stuffed Fresh Pasta with Truffle Sauce @ $22 SGD
Fresh pasta stuffed with beef, pork and truffle sauce, the 1869 Gaig Cannelon. Slow-braised meat stuffed in perfectly cooked pasta sheets and topped with lashings of that creamy, cheesy, truffle-laced sauce. This again is the 1869 recipe from the old days of family Gaig. I reckon I’ll still be eating this in 2069 if I last that long. It’s just a stunning dish.
Gaig Singapore: Slow-Braised Oxtail Paella
Ollie had 2 of these haha. Amy didn’t want it because of the mushrooms inside. The other two girls loved it. How can you not? Slow-braised oxtail paella-style stacks with a HUGE lump of black truffle shavings. Divine. Heavy, but divine.
I don’t have the price for this as it is not on the 2024 menu, perhaps seasonal because of the truffle.
Gaig Restaurant Singapore: Cochinillo Ibérico
Crispy Ibérico Suckling Pig with Fresh Strawberries, 150g @ $78 SGD
Here is the iconic boneless suckling pig. A punchy little variety of sauces there is in the middle. Again if you come please try the pork with all the sauces combined and add a little strawberry. OMG!!! WOOF!!!
What you can’t see here is that Strawberry Blonde is wearing a skirt for the 1st time in many years. There’s a 1st. Not even New Year and she is making New Year’s Resolution. Happy family on one side of the table. #1 had a blast this night – he is one major foodie and loved it all.
Gaig Restaurant Menu: Nuestra Crema Catalana
Catalan Crème Brûlée: Foam, Toffee and Lemon Syrup @ $17 SGD
Crème brûlée foam, lemon syrup and toffee ice cream. Holy cow. This is the Spanish/Catalana version of a creme brulee and it is just out there. It looks heavy but it is so very light and fluffy. The advice you get is to start from the bottom and scoop up. You then get the lemon syrup, ice cream, fluffy creamy, and sugar crust all in one. Holy sh!t this is an incrdible dessert. You need this in your life, one day.
Gaig Restaurant Menu
Do not forget that this is the Gaig Restaurant Singapore menu, not the Catalan location. That’s Dad’s with the Michelin Star. Not underplaying this locale as she is a beauty, purely clarifying the menus.

Gaig Restaurant Reviews: Our Conclusions...
It’s an absolute cracker (yes Xmas pun on purpose). We were planning Xmas Day but the set menu wasn’t something the kids would have gone for so it was Al la Carte for us the day before. It was just amazing. Especially now that Wifey rates this as her best-ever Octopus here. Nuria and crew thanks for a wonderful dinner. Again, folks, don’t miss out, get down here. Superb food.
This sounds a bit GenAI generated, but it really is more than a dining destination—it’s a family homage to the rich traditions of Catalonia, presented with elegance and innovation. From its impeccable dishes to its warm, thoughtfully curated atmosphere, the restaurant strikes a perfect balance between authenticity and contemporary flair. Get stuck into their signature cannelloni or explore seasonal specialities (always book a table during truffle season), every plate reflects a deep respect for Catalan heritage and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality. It’s a place where centuries-old recipes meet modern finesse, creating a foodie experience that lingers in your memory (even mine after a good few pints of Estrella).
The guys bring you an elevated taste of Spain in Singapore, it is a must-visit. With its seamless blend of tradition, creativity, and outstanding service, it has carved a niche in the city’s competitive dining landscape, sometimes regarded as tough in the CBD. If Catalan cuisine holds a special place in your heart, the guys are bound to impress, leaving you with a profound appreciation for the flavours of Spain. It is a DING DONG DINE!!!
Gaig Singapore Review: let's hear from them...

Gaig Restaurant Price
Gaig Restaurant Price: I always say that price is relative – look you can go to McClown and order sh!t and pay a pittance, or you can pay a decent coin and get the most incredible food, as you will here at Gaig Singapore. It’s not cheap, but it is not over-priced: you’re going to pay $100+ per pax though on the food. How, if you buy a $400 bottle of wine, guess what, you’ll be paying more per pax… As I said, it’s relative, but worth every single cent here.
Gaig Restaurant Location
Stanley Street Restaurants
Stanley Street in Singapore, tucked away in the heart of the CBD, has quietly earned a reputation as a dining hotspot of some rather cool and requisite restaurants that cater to both office workers and evening and weekend food lovers. This charming, unassuming stretch seamlessly combines heritage shophouses with modern eateries, that feel both laid-back and cosmopolitan.
It’s the kind of street where lunch can be a quick and satisfying bowl of noodles, and dinner turns into a long, leisurely affair over small plates and fine wine.
Notable dining spots include Gaig Restaurant, celebrated for its authentic Catalan cuisine, where traditional Spanish recipes meet modern execution. Nearby, Chen’s Mapo Tofu delivers Sichuan comfort food with a bold punch of flavours, perfect for those seeking spice and satisfaction. For fans of Italian food, there’s no shortage of handmade pasta and rustic dishes at cosy establishments like Bar Cicheti, where you’ll find impeccable execution in a casual setting.
Stanley Street’s dining options manage to strike a balance between approachable and upscale, making it a go-to destination for both weekday lunches and weekend indulgence. With its unique mix of local favourites and international names, Stanley Street continues to be a must-visit for anyone exploring Singapore’s thriving food scene. It’s a place that Islifearecipe.net is seriously going to explore more into 2025: including an update visit to our mates Joseba and Nuria at Gaig Restaurant Singapore.
Gaig Restaurant Michelin
It has to be called out that there is indeed a Gaig Restaurant Michelin. That’s actually the one in Catalonia, and is run by her Dad: Michelin Star Chef Carles Gaig. Some of the recipes have snuck over here to Singapore, who knows perhaps a Michelin Star could emerge here too?
