Who are Toast Box?
Established in October 2005, Toast Box is not just another coffee house; it’s a time capsule that takes you back to the nostalgic era of the 1960s and 70s Nanyang coffee and toast culture. As you step inside, you’re enveloped by the rich fragrance of freshly-ground caramelised coffee beans, a scent that promises more than just a drink but an experience.
A Taste of Nanyang Coffee in Every Cup
Toast Box has carved a niche for itself by preserving the authentic taste of Nanyang Coffee. Their signature coffee is a product of passion and meticulous craftsmanship.
Brewed traditionally using a cloth coffee sock and a long-spouted pot, each cup is a fragrant testament to the skills of their Kopi Masters. This dedication to authenticity has seen them grow beyond Singapore, with outlets now in Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, and Chinese-Taipei.
More than Just Coffee
But it’s not just about coffee. Their menu is a celebration of familiar home favourites. Indulge in the simplicity and comfort of traditional Kaya Toast, the nutty delight of Peanut Thick Toast, or the savory goodness of Cheesy Ham and Egg Thick Toast.
For those seeking a hearty meal, options like Chicken Curry with Rice, Laksa, and Mee Rebus offer a satisfying blend of flavors and spices. Each dish is a reminder of the vibrancy and richness of local culinary traditions.
The above dishes from left to right, Curry Chicken, Fried Mee Siam set and Salted Egg Minced Pork Rice Set. The accompanying Chili (help yourself) was plentiful, Sambal, Chili flakes etc.
Whilst the prices close to the $10 mark are higher than a local Kopitiam or Hawker Centres you must note that each set meal comes with a drink and a slice of cake!
