Jamie Oliver Singapore knocks one out of the park

Jamie Oliver Singapore
Go Jamie, Go Jamie.

Love him or hate him, but man oh man has he done we’ll here. This restaurant was incredible. The selection and quality of food was outstanding, the staff were great, the decor absolutely funky, music was just ACE like being back at Cities in the Park in Manchester. What an experience. Jamie Oliver well done my friend you should be proud of this one. Bloody legend!!! We’ll absolutely be back, but at $480 total bill, maybe not for a month or two. See ya then! So what did we eat. Well I can tell you what we drank which makes up a chunk of that bill of course; 4x beers, 4x orange juice, 1x lychee spritzer, 2x Italian lemon drink, 1x apple mojito, 1x peach Bellini, 1x glass red wine, 2x grappa, oh yeah and 1x ice cream, 1x cheesecake, and 1x Jamie Oliver cook book. Bring it on!!! So if you fancy this, you need to come to Vivo City to enjoy. Come have some fun, and great food.

Amazing fresh olives over ice.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the best olives I have ever had. Not pickled, not in oil, just fresh and on ice. What flavour and texture. Served with olive tapenade and some funky crisp bread. WOW is all I can say. Best olives ever!!! Olives from an Oliver with my Oliver – now that’s weird!!!

Deep fried cauliflower frittas.

Oh boy. Here’s the next. Breaded and deep fried cauliflower frittas, with a sprinkling of shaved parmesan. Come on Jamie you’re killing me mate. This was a belter. Even baby Jude walloped a couple of these down. Seriously so tasty and great texture too, crunchy outside, soft inner. Delicious!

Jamie’s funky chips

I mean seriously even the bloody chips were incredible. Called funky chips. Basically perfectly fried chips, with  lumps of garlic and truffle salt all over. OMG can chips get any better?

Fish plank.

Check this bad boy out. Sashimi salmon marinated in beetroot, fish goujons, a couple of mussels, some cheese on the funky bread etc. Not that I tried this of course, but the feedback from Mary and Ollie was a big thumbs up. So has to be good, right? We also had  meat plank but for some reason I didn’t take a snap of that. But to say the least it was delicious.

Heritage tomato salad.

What an understatement. We had two of these as once you eat the first one you have to have another. Heritage tomatoes, some basil, some onion and a nice vinegary dressing. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper and hey presto. This was absolutely bloody delicious. I really really loved this salad – best ever. Nicely done Jamie!!!

Porcini arancini.

Oh my goodness. Little deep fried balls of breaded, porcini mushroom and potato served with a thyme and tomato sauce. This was a cracker!!! Simple, but absolutely scrummy.

Simple steamed broccoli?

Some of the very best broccoli to cross this 47 year old’s lips. Simply steamed I would think, add some garlic and some chili and you are done.

Crab bruschetta

I have to say this one looked amazing, but of course it being crab bruschetta it is not right up my street. So no sadly I cannot advise how delicious this was but will rely on Mary and Ollie’s adoring looks for this and of course a completely cleaned plate.

See what I mean. We had a blast here. This place is cool. The staff serving us were great. As I said the music was uber cool too. The food was truly great. We stayed and stayed, we wanted to, we wanted to eat and drink more. This place is sticky, I guarantee you’ll like it. So get your bum down to Vivo City and Jamie’s Italian. It is an absolute bloody belter of a joint!

Jamie Oliver Singapore – Enjoy

Father of 3. All my kids are mixed, with English-Japanese, and English-Filipino - a recipe in the making there. I have been cooking since a small lad, as guided by my Nan and my Mum - gradually that morphed through exposure to Thai cooking from a lovely lady called Da in Margate. I used to hang out in her restaurant and watch the techniques. So the 1+1= greater than 2 occurred - Mum/Nan/Da - off I went in to the world of Asian cuisine. Moving to Asia in early 2000's clearly has brought that on somewhat - we travel continually, and eat locally and therefore have exposure to more and more new things. I have lived my dream and written a cook book whilst here, an amazing experience and all for a good cause too as I raised a lot of money for charity. My blog is now hopefully turning in to book number 2. Watch this space. I hope you enjoy my passion.
