THREE SOCIETIES DEBUTS KI ONE; SOUTH KOREA’S FIRST SINGLE MALT WHISKY
Singapore, July 2023 – La Maison du Whisky is excited to announce the official launch of Ki One Batch 1 in Singapore. The inaugural release of Korea’s first Single Malt Whisky follows the releases of the “Society Collection” consisting of Ki One: Tiger Edition, Unicorn Edition, and Eagle Edition, which showcase Korea’s first single malt whisky at different maturation stages. Ki One Batch 1 American Virgin Oak was officially launched in 2023.
Ki One in Korean means the Beginning, and Hope. These two themes perfectly encapsulate the spirit of Ki One as Three Societies launches the first Korean Single Malt Whisky.
A unique and authentic spirit, Ki One is made in South Korea from start to finish, with mash, fermentation, distillation and aging taking place locally. The inaugural batch of Ki One Single Malt Whisky come in 700ml bottles with a 40% ABV and are aged in American Virgin Oak casks.
The distinctly Korean spirit features a nose of rich oak and vanilla crunch, and a taste of both sweet banana and peach, finished with a long, spicy ending.
Three Societies, Korea’s first Single Malt Distillery, is nestled in the Namyangju mountains, north-east of Seoul. In summer, their spirits are baked in the Korean sunshine and the heat allows the spirit to penetrate deep into the wood. In winter, the sunlight doesn’t rise above the Baekbong mountain, casting a long winter shadow over their spirit, while the extreme cold pushes it out into the cask having extracted an array of aromas.
Bryan Do, CEO of Three Societies said, “We set about to create a world-class single malt whisky with local characteristics that Koreans can be proud of. We are not only introducing whisky to fans in Korea but will release it in established whisky markets such as the United States of America, Japan, Canada, and Europe including Scotland from March onwards.”
Bryan Do, accompanied by Three Societies’ master distiller, Andrew Shand, arrived in Singapore on July 11, Tuesday, to introduce and witness Ki One Batch 1’s debut in the Singapore market.
