We’re staying at The Kew Hotel in Tagbilaran for our last few nights whilst we get the house sorted. Of course we HQVE to go visit our mate Marjoe at Persona Mesa, Tagbilaran, Bohol, @ The Philippines. This is absolutely one of our favourites in Bohol, beautifully deco-red to start with, lovely staff and of course bloody superb food. Marjoe, yet again the restaurant delivered amazing, amazing food. So great to see you too. Thanks for popping down. Just lovely.

I did a quick check on TripAdvisor and Persona Mesa, Tagbilaran, Bohol, @ The Philippines, now sits at #5 of 33 restaurants in Tagbilaran. My personal view is it should be higher than that, having eaten at all top 5, I think Marjoe and crew should be at least #2, easily!!! But that’s a public opinion I suppose.

Here’s that rating. I certainly would have Marjoe above Just Sizzlin’ and The Prawn Farm. Hey ho!!!

You cannot help but get all family at this place. You walk in and feel all welcome and cozy, it’s such a lovely place. So warm and friendly. Again check out the decor too. Happy faces all round.

As always I ordered WAY too much food. As in way too much, but you know me and tapas style eating – I love variety, and to get variety I order a lot ha ha!!! And there surely is variety here. And at circa $8 SGD a dish it is so so cheap and affordable – as in bloody brilliant pricing for the quality of restaurant it is!!!

Lucky little boy Baby Jude gets a new toy that I spotted at HK airport on way home to Bohol. This is Ultraman conversion toy to make the SUPER Ultraman (whatever that is…???)

These were a massive favourite two years ago (yep it was two years ago last time we were here – can you believe it!!!) – these are Persona Mesa’s stunning Cheesy Bacon Bombs. Boy, do these pack some taste. Layers of taste in fact. Mashed potato with melted cheese, wrapped in crispy bacon, stacked on some sour cream and skewered to fresh crunchy cucumber. Oh yes!!! An absolute belter. Jude had two of these all to himself! Go Jude. Superb dish!

My Mary goes hard on the Spicy Gambas Shrimps. Now I didn’t eat the prawn, but I did try the sauce – holy cow. Intense. Sort of spicy, salty and smoky all in one – absolute belter. I must steal this recipe from Marjoe (if she allows me).

The Persona Mesa infamous Beef Rendang. Now I am going to use Mary’s definitions here because they are spot on. For example, if you ordered beef rendang in Singapore you’d expect some brown concoction to arrive, but here it is green. Mary thinks it is like a hybrid Beef Rendang – not so coconut, but more Thai style – you can taste the sour of lemongrass and Kaffir lime. It is a sublime dish! A must-try too (well they all are).

Another ‘die die must try’ is the Persona Mesa Sticky Pork Ribs. Fall off the bone, sticky indeed and with a little spice bite to them too. Baby Jude loved these, he called out the spice, but carried on digging in. Oh yeah Baby, this is good!!!

Amy and Jude Jude go for the creamy carbonara – and OMG did they choose well. Class pasta act was this! Bloody brilliant deconstructed dish, as you can see from the photo. Looked stunning and tasted the same. This disappeared very quickly!

Another must-try if you are super hungry (yes check the size of this dish), is the Persona Mesa Fried Chicken. Crispy, fluffy, gooey batter all in one. Sooooo good!

Jeeeze the list goes of must-eats. The Lechon Kawali is a stunner, with three different dips – bring it on Persona Mesa, more more more…

This was a first and was seriously one of the best BLT’s. It has got two kinds of cheese in it, quite unique, one of them is Eden cheese – an absolutely bloody superb sandwich. I had all of this – and believe me, it is BIG, bit could not waste it – just so delicious!!!

And bless the hostess with the mostest, our friend Marjoe, comes to say Hi. So lovely to see her and say hi 24 months later. I love the concept here – Chef creates the dishes and creative Marjoe plates – as you’ll see from the photos, it surely is a winning combination!!!

So what do we think of dinner kidlets? I loved it Dad, thanks to Aunty Marjoe. It gets Ultraman’s vote too. “Check!!!” Says UltraJude.

So there you have it my friends, yet another fantastic meal at Persona Mesa, Tagbilaran, Bohol, @ The Philippines. I am adamant that this should be higher than ranking #5 for Tagbilaran’s top eateries. It’s WAY up there. You’ll love the decor, the ambience, the staff, the food (hell yes) and believe me if you have come from overseas – the price. It’s yet again a die die must try, it’s a repeat for us every single time we come back. It’s a family favourite for Singapore and The Philippines. You must come. If you do look out for Marjoe and say hi (check the picture) – if you do come you will absolutely – ENJOY!!!
