Grabbing Mee Pok and Nasi Lemak at Bedok Market Place is now possible for Breakfast
Brian previously wrote The Bedok Marketplace 11 Excellent Hawkers in one but all the stalls only opened from 11am onwards, so there was a gap in the market until now!
On Saturday 20th May Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok opened on the upper deck at Bedok Market Place and on the 23rd May our friends Adam and Dyna opened up M by MADAS from 7am onwards for Takeaway only from Tuesday through Thursday. So, I now had two good reasons to visit Bedok Market Place.
M by MADAS Nasi Lemak
I dropped by to see M by MADAS at 7.15am and was their fist customer of the day! Adam introduced me to the new Breakfast menu! I ordered the Mee Hoon Set B with that fried chicken Wing!
I gotta say this was no ordinary Mee Hoon, and so when Adam came over to join me for a chat I told him how the Mee Hoon tasted sweet, and he kindly explained it was the onion and dried shrimp that was blended into the Mee Hoon that gave it the sweetness. The fishcake, fried egg and hot dog all complimented the noodles with a savoury layer, but the star of the show was the Fried Chicken Wing with the side of Sambal Chili. In fact, the Sambal was so good I went back for a second helping, thanks Dyna!
Breakfast menu at M by MADAS
Nasi Lemak Set A $5.50
Nasi Lemak Set B $6.50
Mee Hoon Set A $7.50
Mee Hoon Set B $7.50
M by MADAS is a fusion of Chinese and Malay style Nasi Lemak, so you get the best of both worlds!

Breakfast 2nd Round – Mee Pok at The Art of Mee Pok
Having ventured down so early for breakfast at M by MADAS I thought I might kill two birds with one stone and have the famous Mee Pok at the Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok which has now moved upstairs at Bedok Market Place breathing a much-needed morning food session at this venue! It did feel kind of strange ordering food from them then sitting where I normally sit with Brian for beers at the tables near Bistro Avenue!
What do we know about Mee Pok at The Art of Mee Pok?
We love the enclave that is Jalan Tua Kong as we first ventured there for Spring Leaf Prata back in 2015, so it’s no surprise that they named the company Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok as it came from the same place and later turned into The Art of Mee Pok in 2004 when moving to their new place on the ground floor at Simpang Bedok.
Now I am guessing here but many places are moving out or closing down due to rental increases so when I heard a couple of months ago that The Art of Mee Pok was moving upstairs, I figured it was a rental increase that did it but I am guessing remember! But every cloud has a silver lining because from my perspective its given Bedok Market Place a breath of fresh air and I hope many other stall holders follow suit.
Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok Menu
Price wise the Mee Pok ranged from $5.50 for Small (no prawn) to $6.50 (medium) and $7.50 (large) which coincidentially matched with the prices from M by MADAS 😉
Location Location Location
One squabble here is that Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok is on the right side of Bedok Market Place when you arrive at the top of the stairs on either side of the entrance and M by MADAS is on the left side. M by MADAS is takeaway only which means you can bring your Nasi Lemak from their stall around to eat with your family and friends at Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok.
For our family we want more choices which is why we are glad M by MADAS has decided to open 3 days a week to sit side by side with Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok in a symbiotic relationship. The long-standing Patrons of Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok were all there this morning (I counted almost 30 people at one point) but none of them seemed to even be aware of the fact M by MADAS was even open.
I suggested putting up banners at the top of the stairs to raise awareness going forward, so I hope Adam and Dyna listened to that advice because there is some good footfall traffic to be had there.
Do take heed, its turn left at the top of the stairs for Nasi Lemak and Turn right for Mee Pok!
Lau Lim Kaya Toast
Sitting side by side with Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok is Lau Lim Kaya Toast serving up the usual breakfast fair of The and Kopi sets with Kaya Toast and Eggs! Another complimentary and family tied business.
