Easy Prawns Recipe came together during a work break to Cold Storage. Whilst there Wifey spotted some rather splendid prawns and asked could I? Of course, I would, especially as it was Friday and work calls finished this week at 1800 and I was doing NOTHING more due to another shitty week. So the timing was with us too. I had bought some chicken concentrate recently too and the idea popped in my head for this recipe. This reeall is such an easy prawn recipe, just follow the steps to have a happy family.
Now for once, I dragged out my monster skillet pan as it is deep deep deep and my plan for this recipe is to broil not fry today. So I needed the depth. This pan is colossal. I got it from the good old US of A. I actually bought it too, no looting from this cook. You literally need two hands to pick it up, same as when I go for a pee haha!!! For sure this is the perfect tool for this recipe. Believe me this is just too easy.
For a side dish for three people you will need;
- 12 monster prawns – heads and skins on to keep the head fat for flavour, just rinse them under a tap
- 1/2 or so of a cup of chicken stock concentrate
- 1 Tbsp of finely chopped garlic
- 2″ knob of salted butter
- 2-3 ‘bulbs’ of washed Bok Choy (or equivalent greens) – cut the bottom off so they become individual leaves
- 1/2 cup cooking cream
- Cracked black pepper
Follow the steps – like hopscotch, 1, 2, 3;
- Skillet pan on the heat and in with the chicken stock concentrate and about 1 Litre of water – bring to boil
- In with the;
- Garlic
- Bok Choy
- A good pinch of cracked black pepper
- Butter
- Keep that bubbling away and turn the prawns so they get a good hot bath all over
- When they puff up and go a lovely pink all over (10 minutes or so), turn the heat down and pour in your cream and simmer for 5 minutes
- Serve with plain steamed white rice
