Bathroom

The bathroom was well equipped and roomy for a hotel of this budget, bath/show was big enough and came with plenty of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The star of the show was the Japanese electronic toilet with adjustable water temperature & water pressure. These are now standard through Japan and as we found even in a cheaper hotel.

“If you’re looking for a toilet that’s always on target, then look no further than a Japanese electronic toilet. With its impressive sensor technology, it’s like having your own personal GPS Locator in the bathroom!”

How to get to Sotetsu Fresa Inn Tokyo Kyobashi

Takaracho Station Entrance A7

Located at 2 Chome-11-1 Kyobashi, Chuo City, Tokyo 104-0031 the hotel has a number of train stations nearby so is ideally located for the tourist.

We took a train from Haneda Airport to Takaracho Station and exited the train station at Entrance A7 and was greeted by a young couple offering to help us find the location. As it turned out we was 2 mins away walking! How polite Japanese people are to tourists looking lost!

On the way back from the Asakusa Shrine alighted the train and exited through the wrong ticketing gate and climbed mount Everest of a staircase, not for the fainthearted after a long days walk.

Getting Around Tokyo

Now for all those people saying don’t worry we can use Google Maps, trust me it’s a mind field and less than 24hrs in Tokyo we had more arguments about which way we should go than we have had over a whole year. So my advice is to not trust Google Maps at all, use it by all means but remember it can send you in the wrong direction more often than not.

The Sotetsu Fresa Inn Tokyo Kyobashi has an advantageous location close to a number of Tokyo’s railway stations, which enables guests to reach many of the city’s most popular hotspots with ease. The following railway stations are listed on the website of the hotel as being located in the vicinity of the hotel: Takaracho Station , Kyobashi Station, Tokyo Station and Ginza-itchome Station.

Now take a look at the Map of the Tokyo rail system. Getting around is not that easy unless you know how. Google Translate helps as many of the ticket office masters only have laminated sheets to guide you through the rail system, so be patient!

5 Tokyo Rail Tips

  1. Buy a ticket before boarding the train

To ride the trains in Tokyo, you can either purchase a paper ticket or an IC card, such as a Suica or Pasmo card, which is a rechargeable smart card that allows you to easily pay for your train fare. We recommend purchasing your ticket or IC card before boarding the train to avoid the hassle of buying a ticket at the station and potentially missing your train.

If you purchase a paper ticket, you can use the fare adjustment machines near the exit gates to settle the difference at the end of your journey. You will need cash for tickets at machines, biggest denomination is Yen 500, you do get change. From the station you are buying the ticket you will see a map, the destination station will show the Yen amount you need to pay for your ticket in advance. Pretty simple really!

  1. Wait for passengers to exit the train before entering

When boarding the train, it is important to wait for passengers to exit the train before entering. This is especially important during rush hour when trains are crowded. By waiting for passengers to exit the train, you can avoid causing delays and potentially blocking the train doors.

The queues to enter trains should be respected as people in Japan are very polite.

  1. Avoid talking on the phone or speaking loudly inside the train

In Japan, it is considered impolite to talk on the phone or speak loudly inside the train. To avoid causing discomfort to other passengers, we recommend refraining from talking on the phone or speaking loudly inside the train. If you need to take a phone call, we suggest stepping off the train and taking the call outside.

  1. Be mindful of your backpack

When riding the train, it is important to be mindful of your backpack. In crowded trains, we recommend putting your backpack down or wearing it in front to avoid hitting other passengers. By being mindful of your backpack, you can make the train ride more comfortable for yourself and other passengers.

  1. Know the different types of trains and operators

Tokyo has a complex railway system with various types of trains and operators. It is essential to know the differences between the various types of trains, such as commuter trains and subway trains, and the different operators, such as JR and Tokyo Metro. This will help you plan your journey more efficiently and avoid getting lost.

We hope that these tips will help you navigate the Tokyo railway system with ease and make your trip more enjoyable.
