An Intimate Slice of Italian Culture in the Heart of Town
Duomo Ristorante kindly invited us to the soft launch of the latest edition to Chijmes and of course who are we to say no to an opportunity to try incredible food and warm heartfelt Italian Hospitality.
Leonardo Palmisano the Manager at the best Italian Restaurant on Bukit Timah named Caruso was the one who personally invited us along and boy was I glad we went along.

Taking over the spot where the Carnivore Brazilian Churrascaria used to be Duomo now sits amongst the prime location holders, namely Analogue, Lei Garden, El Mero Mero & Prive.

Duomo Casual Cocktail Bar
It certainly appears that this bar was sponsored by Aperol given the colouration and Aperol paraphernalia strewn along the bar, I love that!
Duomo Welcome Drinks
As with the Italian way, the Aperol Spritz welcome drinks were both cooling and refreshing, the choice of classic Aperol Spritz, or with Campari or Cinzano or the in-house Duomo Aperol Spritz, all were much appreciated by guests.
Duomo Ristorante Franciacorta Berlucchi Prosecco
Franciacorta Berlucchi chilled on ice was just what this event needed, a reasonably priced but highly rated drinkable prosecco. with hints of Green Apple and Pear but with a grapefruit and lemon citrus undertone coupled with a toasted almond warmth made this delectable.
Duomo are looking to potentially add a weekend Brunch on Saturday and Sunday, so look out for that update to follow.
Duomo Alfresco Dining
This stunning mezzanine that opens to the Catherdral view is very well covered from the beating sun and ventilated with strong fans to cool the diners so you have no worries sitting here rain or shine!
**Plus the amount of plug sockets set up for Brian to work from is just outstanding!
Duomo Indoor Dining
For those of you that are heat adverse there is on top of that incredible outdoor space a stunning indoor dining option available and they did not hold back on the decor bring a little piece of Italy to you!
Check out those paintings, they represent the Italian floor tiles with intricate floral tiles. The attention to detail here is second to none, this truly embraces Italy in its styling.
Duomo Private Dining
OK granted this does not look so private but if you look closely you can see a sliding door that sections that area on the left and gives you up to 18 people for private dining.
Duomo Wine List
There is an extensive Italian Wine list for you to choose from but feast your eyes on this collection below mounted in the wall where if you look carefully proves the side wall for the private dining space.
Duomo are looking at a number of ways they can bring customers along and possible a bring one buy one option might be available, watch this space for updates!
Duomo Italian Restaurant Food
As this was a soft launch the food came out freestyle, here are a few snaps of what we wolfed down! A Pepperoni Pizza, Mozzarella Pizza and a Mushroom Bruschetta.
We will of course be coming back for a full tasting don’t worry but what I can tell you is that the ingredients are top notch, why do I say that? Well I chatted to Leonardo about it and we spoke about Olive oil, and he said he only uses the best of the best because otherwise his mother will kill him! So there you have it folks, Mum threats work!
Olive Oils are not all Equal
But seriously, there are different grades of olive oil and I am working on a price now all about how this effects the quality of the meal and how Singaporeans and tourists alike are being cheated in Singapore on the quality of the ingredients they eat at certain restaurants.
This is not because the restaurant chefs are being stingy (but some cheapskates might be) it’s due to the rising costs here for rent, energy and staff, so watch this space for an update soon!
Duomo Italian Restaurant Menu
There was a physical menu available at the restaurant but I will not take a picture and post it here, Leonardo will be sending me a softcopy to upload for your viewing pleasure soon, I’ll updated this post as it comes! But if its any like the Caruso Italian Restaurant menu you will not be disappointed!
Duomo Italian Restaurant Conclusion
If Duomo carries on like they did last night this will be an out and out success from the get go! Location, Location, Location! Even the day prior to the soft launch they had a full house (that mid week).
So judging by this we believe the Italian hospitality coupled with great food and excellent wines will champion this restaurant to be a go to venue for tourist, locals and for any corporate events looking for a grandiose space to host a party with an amazing view!
