Skydive Sequijor: Are you ready for an adventure that will take your breath away and give you a bird’s eye view of the stunning Siquijor Island? Look no further because the answer to your adrenaline-fueled dreams is Skydive Siquijor! Strap in and get ready for an exhilarating experience that combines the thrill of freefalling with the awe-inspiring beauty of this mystical and healing island.

It’s not every day you turn 55, so I surprised all my family that was with me on Siquijor Island that I had booked the morning of my birthday to do a skydive. Yes, they were all rather shocked, surprised, and maybe a little scared. A mini-bus full came to ‘cheer me on’ (AKA scream).  What an adventure, what a rush, and what a birthday!!!

Let me share a little secret with you. Skydiving isn’t just about the adrenaline rush; it’s about embracing life as an adventure with a daring spirit. Imagine soaring through the sky, feeling the wind tickle your skin, and hearing it whistle in your ears. The anticipation builds as you climb into the tiny little plane, knowing that soon you’ll be taking a leap of faith into the unknown.

And when you finally jump, the ground below becomes a blur as you descend, making faces you never thought possible (mine all hidden under the beard) and screaming not out of fear, but out of pure euphoria!

You’re literally 10,000′ up, equivalent to 3km, and when you jump and assume the classic skydive belly position you are hitting something like 200 km/h. It is one insane rush. And the views are just breathtaking (literally). It’s a one-of-a-kind experience and I cannot endorse it enough.

Now, you might be wondering, why choose Skydive Siquijor? Well, besides the obvious thrill and excitement, this skydiving center offers something truly special. Picture yourself gazing at the breathtaking coral formations and scenic landscapes from a perspective only birds usually have. It’s an experience that combines the beauty of Siquijor’s beaches, the relaxed island life, and the mythical stories that surround this enchanting place.

Just have a look at the videos and photos and you’ll get why the skydive here is just so very special. The views are immaculate and will be in my memory, for as long as I have memory.

I also mention this before, but it really is worth popping up there again. Skydive Siquijor is the only USPA Accredited Skydive Centre in the Philippines. I truly did get a more confident feeling as I strapped in because of that.

But wait, there’s more! Skydiving isn’t just for daredevils; it’s an activity that can be enjoyed by anyone. Even if you’ve never skydived before, Skydive Siquijor offers tandem jumps, allowing you to embrace the adventure while feeling safe and secure with professional skydivers by your side. Plus, the memories you create will last a lifetime, especially when you have stunning photos and videos to relive those incredible moments.

It is an additional expense, but to have those two GoPro angles for your memories is just so wonderful. I highly recommend getting the additional skydiver with you, and his/her GoPro to film your action from afar. Check the two perspectives in the two YouTubes I have shared.

Imagine gazing down from 10,000 feet, or 3km, taking in the majestic coral formations and contrasting shades of topaz blue water. The view alone is worth the leap of faith. The instructors at Skydive Siquijor are experts in their field, providing thorough training and ensuring your safety throughout the jump. My instructor, Kirill, is originally from Russia and is a living legend skydiver. On busy days at Skydive Siquijor he is doing sixteen jumps: WOW!!!

Top questions and answers from the people also ask about Skydive Siquijor

Question: Is skydiving safe in Siquijor?

Answer: Skydiving in Siquijor is considered relatively safe. According to the United States Parachute Association (USPA), the risk of a skydiving accident is lower than the likelihood of being struck by lightning or dying from a bee sting.

In the US, there were 11 skydiving fatalities in 2020 out of 2.8 million skydives, most of which involved experienced jumpers rather than tandems. The ratio of tandem student fatalities in the US is one per 500,000 jumps on average over the past 10 years.

It’s worth noting that Skydive Siquijor is the only USPA Accredited Skydiving facility in the Philippines.

Question: What should I wear for a skydive in Siquijor?

Answer: When dressing for a skydive in Siquijor, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing suitable for a long walk on a cool morning. Here are some suggested items:

Tennis shoes, Long pants or leggings, Short or long-sleeved t-shirt (depending on the temperature), Fleece or jacket that can be removed if it gets warm.

As you will see from my video, I was totally unprepared and had shorts, a short, with a pair of borrowed trainers.

Question: What are the age restrictions for skydiving in Siquijor?

Answer: The minimum age requirement for skydiving at most USPA-member skydiving centers, including those in Siquijor, is 18 years old. While there are a few skydiving centers that allow minors to skydive, they are rare.

There is no maximum age restriction, but it’s important for anyone, regardless of age, to be in good physical shape to undertake the adventure. If there are any health concerns, it is advisable to consult with a doctor before skydiving.

We did ask Skydive Siquijor if my daughter (15) and son (9) could do a tandem, and they answered with an affirmative, yes. I find this hard to believe due to the disclaimer you have to sign.

Question: How much is skydiving in Siquijor?

I spent about $1,000 SGD at Skydive Siquijor, which equates to ~ USD $757. This was for the tandem skydive, GoPro video from the tandem instructor, second skydiver for another GoPro angle to the jump, pilot, plane, and video editing + I was over the ideal weight of 94kg so had to pay additional.

I think that is a bargain for this truly incredible experience. It’s a life-changing experience.
