Panglao Shores Review: Let’s start with a caveat. And, that caveat is that this place is being built as we speak, alongside one of our most favourite resorts on Panglao, Bohol, the Philippines: Oceanica Resort, formerly South Palms Resort. We have had many a stay there, so will use that as a reference to what we think Panglao Shores Resort will be like, and include their very own verbiage. Then, as we always do, Islifearecipe will commit to update this review with our personal experiences once we have been able to stay at the resort.
And here we go folks, if you’ve ever wondered what happens when someone with a taste for topaz seas and white sandy beaches, with a nose for good food, and a mild addiction to sun cream finds themselves at Panglao Shores Resort, Panglao, Bohol—well, let me save you the suspense: it’s a recipe for, likely, one of the most gloriously lazy, and delicious holidays you’ll ever have. Panglao Shores Resort is the newest kid on the Bohol block courtesy of the Alturas family, and it’s strutting onto the scene with all the confidence of a beauty queen who’s just discovered she’s also a world-class chef and best resort in Panglao.
This is the sort of place where you might arrive slightly frazzled from your trip, and within minutes, you’re contemplating whether you could get away with calling in “beach sick” for the next month. She is certainly captivating and mesmerising.

Let’s start with first impressions: it’s likely to be awe-inspiring and make you want to check your reflection before you walk in, just in case someone’s filming a reality show. The staff will greet you with the sort of warmth that makes you wonder if you’ve accidentally wandered into a family reunion—except here, the only drama is whether to start with a mango shake, a mojito or this local beverage they have here called beer.
Everywhere is designed to be breezy, with open spaces and just enough local flair to remind you you’re in the Philippines, and modernity to make you forget you’re only a short flight from Manila’s traffic. The rooms I reckon will be big, in fact I’ve likely seen smaller apartments in Singapore. The bed will likely be so big you might lose your flip-flops in it, and balcony views of the topaz sea that is just perfection.

And, because Panglao and Bohol is just so huge, there should be none of those over-crowding issues that Boracay had. Although I am a little worried re the water supply knowing just how bad Richli Water is in Bohol.

Having been in operation for 50 years, the diverse local company Alturas is a leader in the thriving economy of Bohol. When you visit any the malls here in Tagbilaran you’ll be likely in an Alturas facility: Island City Mall, and of course the chain of Alturas Malls.
