The gang and I had one of those unexpected dining moments last weekend. We had lunch at Basil, Thai Kitchen @ Parkway Parade. An unassuming little place, opposite from Din Tai Fung. The latter was mobbed with something like a 45-minute wait. Still VERY proud that those guys got Michelin recognition, it truly is such cracking food. So due to that wait, we ducked into next door. And I have to say, how delightfully surprising this lunch was.

If you are looking for food at Parkway Parade I would absolutely recommend this place. So very reasonable and really cracking food, bar one that I chose. Basil, Thai Kitchen @ Parkway Parade is a really good one to try. We’ll be back for certain.

Chicken Larb Gai, deep-fried Spring rolls. HOLY COW!!! Just go there for this dish. This is Die Die Must Try food. Cracking, when washed down with a Singha. I wish I had ordered two lots of this now and dropped the soup. This really is one hell of a dish. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it, as it reminded me of a trip to Bangkok with Mary and the kids, where I ate this dish the first time and even created it back at home.

The kids both go for the Signature Basil deep-fried chicken wings. The two kids were very quiet for once at the lunch table, always a good sign. They look stunning, don’t they?

Yep, this was my main dish and a little disappointing, to be honest. Especially in comparison to the other dishes. This was supposed to be Tom Yum Soup with mushrooms. Like no Tom Yum I have ever tasted. Would not order this again, and would drop to allow me to eat more Larb Gai sticks!

Mary was sharing with Jude so ordered just a veggie dish. This was the Kang Kong with Fresh Chili. Wow moment again, how good is this. Super spicy, which I love, with a thick unctuous gravy that was to die for. Amazing dish this one!

BeBe goes for the Red Chicken Curry and she said it was absolutely delicious. A very clean plate and bowl was all that was left, the usual good sign of good food.

And last but certainly not least was the Olive Rice. Again this was a belter. So so delicious, especially when combined with all the little accompaniments. Some serious Olive Rice, is this! Beautiful.

There you have it folks. Our surprisingly good lunch with the crew at Basil, Thai Kitchen @ Parkway Parade. Great work guys. We’re always on the hunt for new places, and also for good Thai, and you just ticked both boxes. Be seeing you soon. And if I were you friends, I would go too and I know you will.

ENJOY!!!
