Citron Restaurant Review: Is this the best dining in Danang? Read on...
Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental: The Best Restaurants in Danang. Danang, Vietnam, is a city of surprises. From its sandy beaches to the bustling markets, and super busy Han River there’s always something to catch your attention. Of course, food is a top agenda item here from humble street food to Michelin Stars. But how about leaving the city, and going over the other side of the Sun Headland… hello to Citron Restaurant at the Intercontinental Danang.

Dining at Citron Restaurant Danang
When it comes to dining, Citron at the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort takes the cake—or rather, the Banh Xeo taco. This isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a sensory smorgasbord wrapped in luxury and served with a generous helping of jaw-dropping views. This is your answer for anyone wondering where to dine in style in Danang (just outside the city: about a 30-40-minute Grab away). But don’t just take my word for it, let me walk you through our experience.
We left the Danang beachfront to visit The Lady Buddha Temple at Vườn Lâm Tỳ Ni, Hoàng Sa, Thọ Quang, Sơn Trà, Đà Nẵng. As we were over that neck of the woods, so to speak, we thought let’s continue and go explore the Intercontinental and much-spoken-about Citron Restaurant.
And we explored, believe me. We went to the restaurant, the reception, the beach, we went on the railway (yes, railway: read on), we went up, we even went down (to the loo). And I am going to review it ALL for you in this little blog: Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental
Grab in Vietnam...
Top Tip for you, folks. Make sure you have the Vietnam Grab App, and a credit card linked for payments. I tell you Grab in Vietnam is an absolute God-send. In Singapore, I think they are a bunch of robbing crooks. Here Grab is a game-changer. We used them for day trips, restaurant runs, and even back and forth to the airport. Amazing service, and so safe and reasonable. Highly recommended, hence us using them for our trip to Citron at The Intercontinental, Danang.
First Impressions: Dining in the Clouds at Citron Restaurant Danang
Imagine being whisked up a hillside, the ocean breeze at your back and the lush greenery of jungle and palm trees all around. Then you walk into Citron Restaurant, and suddenly, you’re floating—well, almost. The restaurant’s famous upside-down cone-shaped booths (I think perhaps the Vietnamese iconic hat? Just upside down.) dangle over the hillside, offering a view of Danang Bay that will have you forgetting all about the food (for a moment, at least until it is served in front of you).
Dining here feels like being part of an avant-garde art installation. And let’s not forget the aesthetic flair—golden accents, sleek interiors, and a design that screams understated elegance, without an ounce of stuffiness. It is just so frickin’ uber-cool and we loved it: wait until you see the loo…
Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental
Of course, the upside-down booths are the stars of the show. Sitting in one of them, you feel a bit like a VIP and a daredevil simultaneously. But fear not: no acrobatics are required to enjoy your meal. Just sit back, relax, and let the scenery and staff do the heavy lifting: as we did for this photo-shoot.
Sadly all five of the booths were solid-booked for lunch and afternoon tea, so we had to dash in between sessions to grab a few photos, just to show we had been there and to experience just how wonderful it is to dine here in the open, floaty air. It is truly wonderful, it has to be said.
What’s Cooking: Citron Restaurant Menu Is One To Remember
Now to the menu part of the Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental: Citron’s menu is a monster of flavours that reflect both the local culture and a touch of international pizzazz. if you’re a die-hard pho fan or someone with massive munchies for high-end lobster, there’s something here to tempt you. They go East, West, North and South of Vietnam with the local dishes, and there is such a variety of offerings it is mind-blowingly hard to choose.
Luckily, we love sharing as a family, so this became a Vietnamese tapas lunch for us. A bit of this and a bit of that. I tell you, it was exceptional fare, for us all local (we weren’t swayed by the international pizzaz, no Sir, just local local please…)
I go straight for Vietnam’s beloved sizzling pancake. Crispy on the outside, and packed with fresh shrimp (minus this for me and Jude today), pork, and herbs on the inside and rolled in rice paper. These were the perfect part of the local meal choices today (see more later). The Citron version came with mango and cucumber and a spicy peanut dip, which is very different to what I have had before.
They’re messy, sure, but when food tastes this good, who’s worrying about a bit of sticky peanut sauce on your shirt, or some fresh basil in your beard (yes I speak from experience today)?
Seafood lovers, rejoice! Wifey got stuck into the seared tuna salad with local dressing and went all goo goo ga ga over that one. This is surely a dish that demands attention, cos if Wifey says a fish dish is good, believe me, IT IS. It’s as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the stomach, a zesty little number that surely doesn’t skimp on flavour.
Anyways, to the food today…
Oh my golly gosh. The complimentary bread. It is baked every day, in-house. It comes with what we think were mushrooms and fresh herbs on top, and served with… finally for once: NOT butter. This is an oil, with chopped garlic, lemongrass and chilli. And, I tell you what, it was killer and is now going on my menu in the Philippines. WOW!!!
Citron Restaurant Review, Danang: Seared Tuna Salad
I checked the menu online and can’t see this on there. I checked the receipt and it is simply called this. No airs nor graces. When it tastes this good who needs fancy names?
Wifey oooh’d and aaah’d about this one. I have never heard her say ‘wow’ so many times about a dish placed in front of her. This has a lot going for it. It attacks your eyes with that beautiful vibrant plate, the citrus wafts into your nose to hit that sense hard, and then your first bite is like a baseball bat of flavour to the back of your head. It’s a stunner.
MUST-TRY if you frequent here, folks. It’s a top-end-of-town cracking dish. @ VND 445,000, aka SGD ~$23.
Citron Restaurant Menu: Vietnamese Pancake
Ding Dong!!! What a beautiful version of this Vietnamese classic this is. A thicker pancake that held the crisp much longer, and I loved that: it was punching with flavour and textures to the very end. The fresh fresh herbs lift this up to heavenly heights, and with the mango and cucumber with spicy peanut kapow – this has become one of the best I have had.
When I say ‘I have had’, I actually do mean it as I destroyed this all alone. It was truly a stunning version and I could potentially have gone for another. This is another MUST-TRY on the Citron Restaurant Menu: @ VND 559,000 AKA SGD ~$30
Sorry for the teeth marks, but I had to show you this bite… rice paper wrap, lettuce, mint, Vietnamese basil, green mango, cucumber, ever-so-crispy pancake, pork belly, crunchy veggies and then dip… HEAVEN in a bite. Vietnamese food angels were singing as I ate this…
Citron Restaurant Menu: Beef Luc Lac
OK, Wifey gave this an ‘average’ score. I think she would have liked a little more seasoning perhaps? Mind you it was all eaten so it wasn’t bad, per se, just not the same up there in the stellar status of the previous seared tuna. I have cooked this myself before, if I remember rightly they coin it: “Dancing Beef” because you are supposed to flip it in the pan as you fry it. @ VND 770,000 AKA SGD ~$41
Citron Da Nang Price: Beef Pho Bo
OK, both the girls had the Pho at Citron Restaurant. This was gone gone gone in the blink of their eyes. Yes, folks, they devoured this. They quipped how beefy the broth was with no oiliness, just umami beefiness. Springy noodles gave a lovely bite, and the fresh herbs just kicked it into touch. High recommendations from these two exceptional, and challenging food critics. #Beefy. #Noodly. VND 449,000 AKA SGD ~$24
Citron Da Nang Price: Honey Roast Chicken
This was the territory of Jude and me and man oh man was this so very delicious. It reminded me of beer-bum chicken as it was just ever-so juicy and tender. Now there’s a skillful cook right there. The skin was crispy and seasoned to perfection: beer food on steroids. It was so delicious and we chomped on in silent carnivore bliss.
But… and I love this but… the salt, pepper and citrus dip. One of my favourite things on this planet kicked into the equation. Just dab some of that moist chicken, or crispy chicken skin into that and you spiral up and around in the heavens of Vietnamese food. It really makes a dish elevate. It’s quite incredible: try it at home with anything you’ve cooked. Sea salt, cracked black pepper, squeeze of fresh lime juice: BOOMSKI!!! @ VND 649,000 AKA SGD ~$34
Citron Da Nang Price: Drinks
The drinks menu at Citron is no afterthought. Whether you’re a cocktail lover or someone who prefers their beverages alcohol-free AKA the stunning mocktails, you’ll find something to love here.
Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the well-curated list, which features bottles from around the globe. Whether you’re sipping a bold red or a crisp white, the staff are on hand to recommend the perfect pairing for your meal: and Wifey indulged in that pleasure today.
The wine was not cheap though in Vietnam terms, for example, a glass of Clarendelle Rose @ VND 488,000 AKA SGD ~$26. Whereas the Palas Moscato Dasti @ VND 299,000 AKA SGD ~$16 was much more ‘palatable’.
Citron Restaurant Service: Setting the Gold Standard
At Citron, you’re treated like VIPs from the moment you step through the doors. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable without being condescending, and always ready with a warm smile: they were all just so bloody nice, and I really dig that. #BeProud Citron.
If you’re unsure about what to order, the staff are more than happy to guide you through the menu and share their personal recommendations. I also had our lovely server roll the first Vietnamese pancake for me as it was a different style to what I was used to. Watch our forthcoming Islifearecipe.net TikTok for that rolling action, folks: table-side food theatre, oh yes…
Citron Restaurant Review: She is definitely a feast for all occasions
Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, wooing a significant other, or simply treating yourself, Citron Restaurant is sure to deliver an experience that’s equal parts luxurious and relaxed: it has that perfect ying and yang. The upside-down booths add a sense of occasion, but the warm, welcoming atmosphere ensures you never feel out of place: says the boy from Margate.
Yes, we had a bit of a splurge today, but let’s be honest—how often do you get to dine in a floating cone while gazing out at Danang Bay? It’s the kind of experience that stays with you long after the plates have been cleared. We loved it, and are still talking about it two days later: there you go, priceless!!!
What does Citron Restaurant Danang have to say about itself?
“Our all-day restaurant Citron is a true culinary map of Vietnam, with traditional dishes from North, Central and South Vietnam – one must-try is our delicious Hanoi-style pho. You’ll also love my quang from Da Nang, Hoi An chicken rice and Saigon-style Banh Xeo.
This bright, airy space soars 100 metres over the landscape on the resort’s highest level, and is punctuated with Bill Bensley design combining Vietnamese motifs with bright colourful details. Of special note: look up at the ceiling in the buffet area, where each of the backlit panels features a pen-and-ink drawing of one of Vietnam’s many indigenous birds.
Two thatched-roof private dining rooms are available for small groups of up to 8. And for the ultimate wow, book one of Citron’s outdoor dining booths, shaped like an inverted nón-lá, the iconic Vietnamese conical hat. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner with the best view in the house!”
“We’re passionate to create the most authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the country.” Thu Doan: Executive Sous Chef
Citron Restaurant Danang Prices
As part of our Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental, we will share the pricing of our dining experience. But of course, the price you pay depends on what you order, so…
Citron Restaurant Danang Menu Prices
She’s not cheap, but of course, but what do you expect? This is the Intercontinental Danang, it’s such an exclusive hotel, it’s 100m up a huge hill, it has views to die for, and the quality is exceptional. In summation though, it’s Singapore pricing comparable to any normal locale. So let’s just say: pricey for Vietnam, the same as Singapore.
Five of us stuffed our faces and had lovely mocktails, wines and beers all for VND 5,822,103 AKA SGD $309. In this current day and age in Singapore, that is a pretty average meal price for lunch for a family of five (sadly).
Citron Restaurant Review: I am even going to review the toilet
This is an absolute first for Islifearecipe.net, a review of a toilet. Yes, folks, the toilet at Citron Restaurant Danang deserves a call-out. It was like walking into an art gallery. I was blown away, so much so that I made the whole family go for a pee-trip just so that they could also experience it.
Citron Restaurant Review: The Loovre of Danang
I mean come on. I have seen lesser works of art in the Tate in London. It’s stunning as you descend the spiral staircase and get met with this mozaic of brick-art. I was surely taken-a-back. Wow, I thought to myself. But then…
Hold on a minute Intercontinental and Citron Restaurant, what are you trying to do here? I need to go back and finish my lunch, but I now kind of want to ‘hang’ down it at the lavatories. I mean, come on, check this out. This is like London’s best-in-class hotel lounge area…
Citron Restaurant Review: a toilet for VIP'ing
I was tempted to rip one of these stunning sinks and mirror combos off the wall and take it home to refit in my Singapore condo. I love this… This loo is just WOW!!! Nicely done Intercontinental Danang and Citron Restaurant Danang: you are the FIRST EVER toilet to be reviewed on Islifearecipe.net. First time for everything…
Citron Restaurant Review Intercontinental: The Final Verdict
In a city brimming with excellent dining options, Citron at the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort manages to rise above the rest—literally. With its inventive menu, stunning setting, and impeccable service, it’s a restaurant that deserves every bit of its glowing reputation.
And it is out of the city, so that sets it even further apart. When you’re there ask to use the railway and go view the beach. It is quite incredible too. All of it is. We’d love to come back here in high season, clearly wallet allowing as the hotel is not $, more $$$$, as you’ll see from the review below. If we do, we’ll be making a bee-line straight to Citron Restaurant: guaranteed.
So, if you’re planning a trip to Vietnam and Danang and want to treat yourself to a dining experience that’s as memorable as the views, make sure to book a table at Citron. Just don’t forget your camera—you’ll want to snap a photo or two before digging in: this place is a social media poster’s nirvana. We hope you enjoyed our Citron Restaurant Review.

The Intercontinental Hotel Danang Review: I could not help myself, it's DOUBLE REVIEW TIME
Intercontinental Hotel Danang Review. When you think of beach getaways, there’s no shortage of contenders, and we should know as we have been to loads internationally including our beautiful home of Panglao.
But let’s talk about a hotel that doesn’t just sit by the beach; it practically perches on the cliffs like it’s waiting for a photoshoot from some wandering Social Media guy (happens that that was me today). Enter the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, a destination so jaw-dropping you’ll end up with a mouthful of sand. If you’re after a blend of luxury, local culture, unparalleled views, and incredible food offerings, this might just be the locale for you.

Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort Photos: quite a few to follow for you
Let me take you on a little trip through what makes this place a must-visit (spoiler: it’s not just the infinity pools). And proving that is the entrance to the reception, I mean, come on… If this does not WOW you then nothing will.
First Impressions: Welcome to the Hills
We walked up to the check-in area from Citron to have a look at the checking-in experience, and it did not disappoint: as you’ll see. The Intercontinental Danang is like stepping into a postcard. The hotel is tucked into the lush greenery of the Son Tra Peninsula, offering sweeping views of the ocean that could convince anyone to ditch city life for good.
Designed by the renowned architect Bill Bensley, the resort is an eclectic mix of traditional Vietnamese design and over-the-top luxury. Think pagoda-style roofs, hand-carved wooden panels, and koi ponds that make you feel like you’re wandering through an art installation. Oh, and did I mention the railway/cable car? Yes, there’s a railway/cable car that whisks you from the main lobby down to the private beach. Because why walk when you can glide? Read on for more on that, folks…
And let’s talk about the staff. They greet you like long-lost friends, which is both heartwarming and a bit intimidating when you realise they’ll probably remember your name better than you will theirs: there are some very interesting names in Vietnam due to Buddhist beliefs and such. Don’t forget that we are not staying at the hotel, we just came for lunch, but you’re treated like VIP from start to finish. #BeProud Intercontinental Danang.
The Intercontinential Danang, Rooms That Redefine Comfort
If you’re someone who values a good hotel room (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), then prepare to be spoiled. The rooms at the Intercontinental Danang don’t look like places just to sleep—they look like places to live your best life. We did some research from the beach, and there’s even rooms with a grand piano contained within: just WOW!!!
From the sprawling balconies with daybeds to the deep soaking tubs that practically beg for a bubble bath, everything about these rooms screams opulence. And the beds? Let’s just say they’re sure to be so comfortable you’ll be questioning why you ever settled for your lumpy mattress at home: especially when you lay there and look over the bay.
Each room is designed with a blend of Vietnamese heritage and modern luxury. There are vibrant silk cushions, dark wooden furniture, and intricate lanterns that cast a warm glow in the evenings. It looks like the kind of place where you’ll want to spend half the day lounging in a robe, sipping on the complimentary tea, or in my case supping a local alcoholic beverage while pretending to be in a movie montage.
I told Wifey: “one day hun, one day we’ll come back…” So watch this space folks, a proper experience review to come. I must learn to play the piano first.
Intercontinental Danang Price
To ‘get you in the mood’, a 4 Bedroom Pool Villa Ocean View. Photo courtesy of the Intercontinental Danang website.
Of course, this all depends on the season and room choice, but let me give you a range, a spread from top to bottom, so you can compare and maybe even start to save to hit that budget requirement.
Off-season:
- 1 Bedroom King Resort Classic Ocean View: USD $412 per night
- 4 Bedroom Pool Villa Ocean View: USD $5,979 per night
High-season:
- 1 Bedroom King Resort Classic Ocean View: USD $565 per night
- 4 Bedroom Pool Villa Ocean View: USD $7,633 per night
Aside from the rooms, folks, this is what you’re paying for. Exclusivity. That view is all yours, and only yours. That beach is yours, and only yours. Now constant annoyance of hawker punting dodgy sunglasses or jewellery here. It would not surprise me if you bump into a star or two if you stay here, it really can be so exclusive if you so desire.
Intercontinental Danang Review: The Beach and The Railway
We saw this on the way to the resto and the driver, all hellos and wide wide smiles said we could have a go on it when we finished lunch. My gang clearly did not need to be invited twice to that offer. In my 56 years on the planet, I have never seen such a thing for an individual hotel. It is absolute GENIUS.
Stunning little gondolas whizz you up and down from the reception and restaurants to the beach and pool. You alternative is something like 380 steps: if you want to be getting your steps up, feel free. Me, I’m in the gondola.
The Intercontinental Danang: Perfect for Families and Couples
While the Intercontinental Danang is undoubtedly romantic (hello, candlelit dinners on the beach, or in your private villa), it’s also incredibly family-friendly. We snuck down to the beach for a quick looksie, and we all immediately fell in love: despite the rather barmy weather.
Couples, on the other hand, will appreciate the resort’s many private spots. From sunset cocktails on your balcony to a couples’ spa treatment, there are plenty of ways to rekindle the romance: if you need to of course.
Dining with a View: not just Citron Restaurant Review
The dining options here each deserve a review of their own, as we have above for Citron. Let’s just say you won’t go hungry. The resort boasts multiple restaurants, each offering a unique experience.
La Maison 1888. Step in from the rainforest into the Joie de Vivre of Paris at La Maison 1888, Danang’s first Michelin Star restaurant. Three Michelin Star Chef Christian Le Squer inspires French cuisine in this captivatingly beautiful recreation of a colonial Indochine mansion: so says the Intercontinental Danag..
For lunch, head down to Barefoot, the resort’s beachside restaurant (sse below). Their wood-fired pizzas and seafood dishes are perfect for a relaxed midday meal. Try the grilled lobster—it’s smoky, and succulent, and pairs wonderfully with a chilled glass of white wine: especially with your toes in the sand.
And then there’s Citron, the crown jewel of the resort’s dining scene. Perched high on the hill, this restaurant offers not only incredible food but also unbeatable views of the bay. Pro tip: book one of the upside-down cone booths for the full experience if you can. See our full Citron Restaurant Review above.
Why the Intercontinental Danang Stands Out
What sets this resort apart isn’t just its location or its design—it’s the attention to detail. From the personalised service to the thoughtful touches in each room, it’s clear that the staff here take pride in making your stay unforgettable: I took time to read some of the resort reviews, and each echo what I am saying here.
Things to Do: Beyond the Pool at The Intercontinental Danang
Let’s face it, the infinity pools at the Intercontinental Danang are hard to resist, including those in your provate villa if that was your fancy. But if you can tear yourself away, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. Again I had to research this as we arrived in off-season and it was gnarly weather and seas, so…
The private beach is a slice of paradise: I totally concur. It was a stunning private bay, completed secluded. I assume in the Summer this will be all soft sand and crystal-clear water. It appeared that in fairer weather you can borrow a kayak or paddle-board for a bit of adventure, or just lounge under an umbrella with a good book and a cocktail.
There were gazebos and hammocks all around, and of course you could just lounge on your private balcony soaking in the blissful scenes and calm of nature abundant.
If you’re feeling active, I hear there are hiking trails that take you through the lush greenery of the Son Tra Peninsula. Whilst doing that they say to keep an eye out for the endangered red-shanked douc langurs: basically the cover models of the primate world.
If you fancy a more relaxed pace, the Spa is a must. From traditional Vietnamese massages to soothing facials, this spa drips and oozes pampering. Be prepared to feel so zen afterwards that even the sound of your own phone ring might freak you out…
Intercontinental Danang: Barefoot Restaurant
Barefoot: Beachside Bliss. If your ideal dining experience involves sandy toes and the sound of waves, Barefoot is your go-to: reminds me so much of Anthony Bourdain comments of food tasting better with sand between your toes.
This beachside restaurant brings casual dining to new heights. It’s laid-back and clearly does not compromise on quality, making it the perfect spot for a lazy lunch or a relaxed dinner. I snuck my head in and it was a cracker.
Seafood is the star of the show here apparently. The Grilled Lobster with Garlic Butter seems to be their crowd-pleaser, with succulent meat and a hint of smokiness. Or try the Mango and Prawn Salad, for something fresh, and zesty: just the thing to cool you down after a day in the sun. These are just two I grabbed from the menu that looked rather delish.
The drinks menu is equally impressive from what I could read, with cocktails that likely taste as good as they sound. The Tropical Breeze, a mix of rum, coconut, and pineapple, is essentially a holiday in a glass from what I can surmise. And for those who prefer something non-alcoholic, the fresh coconut water served straight from the fruit is as refreshing as it gets: this is Buko in the Philippines.
Barefoot Intercontinental Danang Menu
I steal this directly from the Intercontinental website because I love this. Barefoot restaurant spills from a thatched-roof, high-ceilinged wooden pavilion directly onto the sand. The menu focuses on expertly-grilled meats, fresh seafood and healthy, light options – all perfect for beachside dining.
The Intercontinental Danang Review Verdict
The Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is a destination in its own right. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or just a chance to pamper yourself, this resort ticks all the boxes from what I could see when we visited today.
With its stunning design, luxurious amenities, and world-class dining, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the best places to stay in Vietnam, and beyond. So save your cash, folks, pack your bags, bring your appetite, and prepare for a trip you won’t ever forget. Days later we are still talking about our afternoon here and the Citron Restaurant Review.
And remember, if you didn’t Instagram it, did it even happen? If you do Instagram, please don’t forget to tag @islifearecipe. We’d love to share your experiences too. ENJOY!!!
