Monzen@Gardens is now open at Bedok Marketplace, bringing its signature Japanese izakaya experience to Simpang Bedok. Known for fresh sashimi, hearty donburi bowls, and delicious small plates perfect for sharing, this new location promises to be a must-visit for lovers of Japanese cuisine.
They have taken up two units, so we expect this to compete with Burning Oak and The Naughty Chef for food quality for sure! Keep an eye out for their opening and get ready to indulge in an authentic Japanese dining experience!

The Curry Rice options at Monzen@Gardens are perfect if you’re looking for something hearty and comforting. They’ve got classics like Chicken Katsu Curry ($10.80) with crispy chicken cutlet and rich Japanese curry, or if you’re more into pork, the Pork Katsu Curry ($10.80) is a great pick because that is exactly what I tried on today the official opening day.
Alfred is the main man here took my order and suggested the best seller at Serangoon outlet Bara-Chirashi Don I spied the curry and opted for the pork! I was given a table buzzer for pick up when ready and you always know something is cooked fresh when you have to wait a little longerfor it to be prepared.
The pork was succulent and juicy, the crispy outer layer had a nice textural crunch as you took a bite and it was hot on the tongue, big thumbs up for me on taste and price point. I will certainly try the fried oyster version another time!
There’s also Ebi Fry Curry ($11.80) with fried prawns, and the Kaki Fry Curry ($12.80) with deep-fried oysters. I actually went with the Pork Katsu Curry on opening day, and it hit the spot—crispy, juicy pork with that delicious curry sauce. Definitely worth trying if you’re a curry fan!
Monzen@Gardens also offers some cold dishes such as Chuka Wakame ($6.00) and Tantan Tofu ($6.00), along with a range of customizable Add-Ons like Ikura ($6.00) or Miso Soup ($3.00) to complement your meal.
Seems like Ramen-Ya has some competition with the Tonkotsu Ramen (which according to some) already its a close enough match, more on this next visit!
