Iskina Cebu at Singapore Expo – Same Satisfying Cebuano Flavours
Iskina Cebu fired up the grill at the Singapore Expo Marketplace a while back now, and since then, they’ve quietly built a reputation as one of the most reliable places in the east for a full-on Filipino food fix. For anyone unfamiliar, Iskina Cebu is known for bringing authentic, no-shortcut Cebuano street food to Singapore – with an emphasis on flavour, texture, and that signature red chilli flair. We previously covered their old location at Timbre+ – read that review here.
On a recent visit, I tried two of their staples: the Liempo (grilled pork belly) and Manok Inasal (grilled boneless chicken). Each comes with a warm portion of rice, and both were smoky, juicy, and loaded with marinade. That big red chilli on the plate? It instantly reminded me of our own logo – and trust me, it’s not just for show. The flavours were bold, the meat was perfectly grilled, and each bite had that familiar taste of comfort that fans of Filipino food know and love.
If you haven’t been to Iskina Cebu in a while, this new location is worth a revisit. Their menu has grown, and it’s clear they’ve settled in with consistency and confidence. With generous portions, friendly service, and a solid regular crowd, it’s easy to see why this stall has remained relevant despite a competitive food scene.
What I Ordered
- Liempo (Grilled Pork Belly) – S$7.50
- Manok Inasal Portion (Grilled Boneless Chicken) – S$7.50
Total bill: S$15.00 – generous servings and full-bodied flavour made it good value for money. The pork was crisp-edged and savoury, while the chicken was succulent and well-charred. The rice was nicely steamed and balanced the richness of the meats well. If you like your meals with some punch, don’t skip the house chilli sauce.
What’s Different at MarketPlace @ Expo?
MarketPlace @ Expo isn’t your typical food court. Located just outside Hall 5 of the Singapore Expo, it’s a mix of modern hawker vibes with lifestyle flair. There’s an open-air seating area, strings of neon lighting, and plenty of cold drinks to go with your meals. What truly makes it unique is the live music every Tuesday to Sunday – you can hear acoustic covers and Tagalog ballads as you dig into a plate of lechon. It’s open daily from 11am to 11pm, so it’s perfect for lunch breaks, after-work hangouts, or late dinners before heading home.
The environment is family-friendly and lively without being overcrowded. During peak hours, you’ll spot working professionals from the nearby offices mingling with Filipino families and curious foodies. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience. Whether you’re catching the band with a cold beer in hand or grabbing takeaway, there’s a sense of community and authenticity that’s hard to find elsewhere in Expo.
