BeBe’s undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue

So BeBe’s birthday was today but it became BeBe’s undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue, because she completely forgot how old she is today. Too funny. But anyways, that aside, we had such a lovely family time at one of our favourite locals, down with Jack and his gang at Shao’s. So lucky to get in though as it was PACKED with reservations. Wow!!!

The new look Shao Restaurant – literally a designer had been in from China today and made all the changes with the plants, lights etc. Absolutely bloody beautiful – we had to sit outside – so very lucky to get a table actually! Thanks Amy for showing off!

Lots of new dishes tonight – and this is a 1st ever for me. Squid sausage, a new invention by Jack’s Chef. Bloody amazing and received massive thumbs up from all consuming this. Also how good does that look!!!

Signature roast pork, is always a must! It is a cracking dish – yes yes competition to ChilaxBBQ… But so good!!!

Black pepper smoked duck is another must have – it’s stunning. So moist and tender and smoke flavour – its is a cracking dish!

And for the very first time as a special treat we go for the Chef special at Shao. Their very own signature crab. It’s Japanese in flavour and Mary even said it is the very best she has had in Singapore since she has been here – and believe me she is picky with seafood. Great work Jack and team. Knocked it out of the park my friend!

Yiu can’t come here and not try the lamb. Super tasty and succulent, even with a little mint sauce thrown on the side. It is just delicious!

Angus beef up next – Jude destroyed this! He loved this one so so much. Have to say it was a superb piece of meat – cooked perfectly with flavour explosion happening everywhere! Boom!

Even the veggies are wonderful. Just the Kai Lan today, but man oh man is this some of the very best you’ll ever have likely! So damned good!

Brian Kennett

Father of 3. All my kids are mixed, with English-Japanese, and English-Filipino - a recipe in the making there. I have been cooking since a small lad, as guided by my Nan and my Mum - gradually that morphed through exposure to Thai cooking from a lovely lady called Da in Margate. I used to hang out in her restaurant and watch the techniques. So the 1+1= greater than 2 occurred - Mum/Nan/Da - off I went in to the world of Asian cuisine. Moving to Asia in early 2000's clearly has brought that on somewhat - we travel continually, and eat locally and therefore have exposure to more and more new things. I have lived my dream and written a cook book whilst here, an amazing experience and all for a good cause too as I raised a lot of money for charity. My blog is now hopefully turning in to book number 2. Watch this space. I hope you enjoy my passion.
