Tapas24 Review: I love my alter ego as a food blogger. Tonight was a dinner with my BFF The Spanish Trade Ambassador for Spain, Antonio, and also my friend. We were there to talk about Knights of Rizal and so on, but at Antonio’s chosen restaurant: Tapas24. It’s a new one for me, it is indeed one of the coveted eighteen Restaurants from Spain ICEX Certification.
Tapas24 is located along the river amidst Robertson Quay’s vibrant dining scene and beckons you in with promises of an authentic Spanish dining experience like no other. As I stepped into the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by the lively ambiance, reminiscent of a bustling tapas bar in Barcelona. The warm and vibrant colours of the decor and the inviting open kitchen wafting the smells of Spanish cuisine to the diners set the stage for a memorable dinner.
Tapas24’s menu is a celebration of Spanish gastronomy, featuring a stunning selection of traditional tapas, flavorful paellas, and succulent grilled meats: grilled on a Josper as well – absolutely some of my all-time favourite kitchen kit.
We went full-on with a selection of tapas, including the indulgent Jamón Ibérico, thinly sliced cured ham that melted in my mouth, and the super-soft and smoky pulpo with incredible mashed potato. Each bite was bursting with authentic Spanish flavors, transporting me to the streets with every taste.
A tribute to Barcelona’s laidback counter-culture, the all-day restaurant-bar offers an energetic atmosphere, unfussy service, and sublime tapas. The extensive menu highlights seasonal Spanish products, refreshing Sangria and a unique range of Spanish Street Cocktails in addition to a robust wine list that showcase the best of Spain’s viticulture.
With breezy alfresco dining options, as well as cozy indoor spaces, Tapas,24 is a social dining destination, perfect for group celebrations, intimate date nights, or couple of Sangria sundowners – Salud!
I have to get myself that Josper grill – have a look at that, stunning. Also in this pic is the gorgeous Head Chef, Carolina, who WOW’d us this night with her culinary expertise. Stellar dinner thank you, Chef: #BeProud. Plus what a crew from front to back of house just the most wonderful crew that made our night super-special.
With over ten years of experience creating superb Spanish cuisine, Chef Carolina Garcia Santamaria heads the Tapas,24 Singapore kitchen, channelling her vast experience and formal training into creating authentic Spanish tapas dishes for Singapore. She has made this Tapas24 Review easy.
Prior to launching Tapas,24 Singapore, the kitchen team spent time training with Chef Carles Abellán in Barcelona, where they learnt more about the quality Spanish products used and sampled ample traditional tapas dishes, furthering their love and passion for Spanish cuisine.
OLIVES MARINADAS: Cold Served Assorted Spanish Olives. $10
You just can’t go wrong with Spanish olives. The different flavour profiles were amazing, sweet, salty and sour all in one little bowl. Just delicious. And this is just the start of the Tapas24 Review.
I even had the guys try my method of eating the Padron Peppers (which none of them had tried before): give a little sprinkle of additional salt, and then squeeze some fresh lemon over them. Just heavenly. You’ll never go back once you try this: believe me.
SCALLOP “CEVICHE” WITH AVOCADO: Raw Scallop marinated in Citrus and Spices, with Avocado. $29
A beautiful plate of food, so clean, fresh, and vibrant: and gone in the blink of an eye. Yeah, this one is special.
OCTOPUS “A LA BRASA”: Grilled Galician Octopus with Potato Parmentier
and Chimichurri. $36
I have to bring Wifey for this dish alone because I tell you this might be a serious contender for the Pulpo top spot in Singapore: currently that coveted position sites with Lavo. This was a knockout. Super-soft Pulpo, smoky, then sour hits of the chimi and then super-creamy mash and smoked chilli oil. Oh boy, this gets a WOOF!!!
HAND CUT JAMÓN (50G): Cured 48 months, 100% acorn-fed bone-in
Ibérico Ham, hand-cut by knife. $24
Oh boy. One of the very best ever. This is the sort of produce the restaurants have to import from home to get that title from ICEX of Restaurants from Spain. The quality of this Jamon is unsurpassed. It’s seriously WOW!!!
JAMÓN CROQUETAS (4PCS): Ibérico Ham in homemade Bachemel,
lightly breaded and deep-fried. $10
OK, these were nice, really nice. But, I have had better at some of the other Restaurants from Spain, you can read those reviews HERE. This is my problem. I get spoiled by food and the quality the Chefs are serving in these Restaurants from Spain, and yes I do comparisons – I have to, that’s the reason for the blog, right?
PAN CON TOMATE: Spanish Toasted Bread with fresh Roma Tomato
spread, Mallafré Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Sea Salt. $8
Simple, and simply delicious. Pop some of that Jamon on here and there’s a heavenly moment right there!!!
GAMBAS AL AJILLO: Sautéed Prawns with Garlic, Chilli and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. $22
This, I did not try, but judging by the oooohs and aaaahs coming from Antonio and Mike, I am kind of guessing that this was also ‘up there’. Have to say it is plated just beautifully.
LAMB SKEWERS: Grilled Marinated Australian Lamb Leg. SINGLE (150G) – $19 DOUBLE (300G) – $34
Some of the best lamb I have ever had in my 56 years. Mind-blowingly good. So juicy and charred on that Josper. I’ll be ordering this every single time we come here. It’s crazy good… Also the last dish of this Tapas24 Review.
To conclude our Tapas24 Review another of the Restaurants of Spain in Singapore is a stunner that offers an authentic taste of Spain in the heart of Singapore. With its vibrant ambience, flavorful dishes, and impeccable service, it’s no wonder why Tapas24 is a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
If you’re craving an authentic Spanish tapas experience, in the city, seriously look no further than Tapas24, because from the moment you step inside, the lively atmosphere envelops you, transporting you straight to the lively tapas bars of Barcelona.
The menu is a veritable tapas paradise, offering an extensive medley of hot and cold Spanish small plates or pinchos. Start with classics like patatas bravas (crispy fried potatoes smothered in a rich tomato sauce and aioli) or pintxos morunos (savory Moorish spiced skewers of beef). The Pan con Tomate is a must – rustic toast rubbed with fresh garlic, ripe tomatoes, and a drizzle of premium Spanish olive oil.
For a taste of the sea, don’t miss the Gambas al Ajillo with succulent shrimp swimming in a pool of garlic, chili and olive oil. The Pulpo a la Gallega features tender, chargrilled octopus paired with mashed potatoes in a punchy smoked paprika oil. Meat lovers will swoon over the lamb skewers, grilled on that Josper.
With its lively vibe, rustic Spanish decor, and exceptionally executed tapas and wine, Tapas24 brings the authentic flavors of Spain to Singapore, with wonderful dining alongside the river: this convivial bodega didn’t disappoint. Great choice thanks Antonio. Salud!!!
