When in Singapore, Do as the Spanish Do: A Night of Tapas, Tipples, and Terrific Times!
It was a night to remember as we attended the Noches de Fiesta: A Spanish Night Under the Stars at Little Farms Table, Tanglin Mall. From 5 PM to 9 PM, the venue transformed into a slice of Spain, filled with the sounds of laughter, clinking glasses, and the irresistible aroma of Spanish cuisine. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the anticipation in the air was palpable as we settled in for what promised to be an evening of exceptional food and drink. As the evening progressed, the Little Farms restaurant slowly filled out, and by 7:30 PM, every table was occupied—a clear testament to the event’s popularity and the appeal of Spanish gastronomy.
There are still more Eat Spain Drink Spain events planned, so head over to https://nas.io/eatspaindrinkspainsg and join in the Festivities!
While this enchanting evening was a perfect blend of food, wine, and festivity, it was preceded by another event we, unfortunately, missed but heard rave reviews about—the Spanish Food and Wine Fair. Held earlier in the day, from 11 AM to 4 PM, the Spanish Food and Wine Fair promised a gastronomic journey through the flavours of Spain. Hosted at Little Farms Market, it showcased an impressive array of Spanish products, from olive oils and cured meats to artisanal cheeses and, of course, a selection of fine Spanish wines. Our good friends at the Economic and Commercial Office Embassy of Spain in Singapore kindly filled us in on the highlights of this bustling event.
A Weekend of Spanish Delights
The fair, part of the Eat Spain Drink Spain Singapore campaign, was a two-day affair, running on both Saturday, September 28th, and Sunday, September 29th. It was a customer fair in the truest sense—an open invitation to the public to explore the best of Spain’s food heritage. While we couldn’t attend, we were told it was a lively event with tasting tables that could make any foodie’s heart skip a beat.
The highlights? There were premium Spanish products from brands like LC (aka La Catedral de Navarra), Canigó, Obando, AR de Arte, and Anaconda. Ecolah products were also featured prominently, along with Noel delicacies and an extensive range of Spanish wines. Little Farms, Noel, and several Spanish brands came together to offer a truly immersive experience.
I got to meet Bea one of the Co-founders of Ecolah who is supporting the Eat Spain Drink Spain campaign and brings in such fabulous products from Spain! We hope the Is Life a Recipe Team can do a Collab event with them soon, watch this space!
Sipping and Savouring
Guests at the fair had the opportunity to sample a variety of Spanish delicacies and beverages. We heard from our sources that the stand-out items were the artisanal olive oils, charcuterie selections, and exquisite cheeses. The venue was buzzing with visitors keen to explore and purchase authentic Spanish products. The atmosphere was vibrant, with the air filled with the chatter of excited customers and the sound of corks popping—a true testament to the allure of Spanish cuisine and hospitality.
There was a lot to explore, from premium olive oils that could elevate any dish to charcuterie boards that showcased the rich traditions of Spanish meat curing. The cheeses on offer were nothing short of exceptional, with options ranging from sharp Manchego to milder varieties that melted on the tongue. Of course, no Spanish fair would be complete without wine, and the Spanish wines on offer did not disappoint. Visitors could sample a range of reds and whites, each telling its own story of the Spanish terroir.

The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Pares Balta Honeymoon 2022. This delightful white wine from Penedès, Spain, priced at $17 per glass or $50 for a bottle, was the perfect companion for the night’s exquisite Spanish food offerings. Its crisp acidity and floral notes harmonised beautifully with every dish we sampled.
Appetizers: Setting the Scene
The night began with a duo of appetizers: the Tiger Prawn Ceviche with Crispy Bread and the Charred Chorizo with Creamy Potato Purée. The prawns, marinated in a zesty mix, and the smoky chorizo with its velvety potato purée were the perfect introduction to the feast that followed.
Tiger Prawn Ceviche
The Tiger Prawn Ceviche was a vibrant dish that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of Spanish cuisine. Sustainably sourced Selva prawns were marinated in a refreshing mix of lime, served with cucumber, avocado, and crisp bread. The prawns were juicy and tender, with the citrus marinade cutting through their natural sweetness.
The addition of creamy avocado and the crunch of the crisp bread provided a delightful contrast in textures. It was the kind of dish that makes you think of sunny days by the Mediterranean, with the sea breeze ruffling your hair and a glass of something cold in your hand.
Charred Chorizo with Creamy Potato Purée
Next up was the Charred Chorizo with Creamy Potato Purée. Now, chorizo is always a crowd-pleaser, but this dish took it to another level. The chorizo was grilled to perfection, its smoky, spicy flavours perfectly balanced by the rich, creamy potato purée. Roasted piquillo peppers added a touch of sweetness, while Spanish onions and fresh parsley brightened the dish. It was comfort food elevated to something truly special—each bite a harmonious blend of flavours that lingered on the palate.
Mains: The Heart of the Meal
Paella Valenciana
For the main course, diners were faced with a delicious dilemma between two enticing choices. The first was a traditional Paella Valenciana, a dish so iconic it’s practically the culinary emblem of Spain. This version featured organic chicken, tender artichokes, and a rich sofrito, all brought together with Bomba rice—the short-grain variety known for its ability to absorb flavours without turning mushy.
The Bomba rice was cooked to perfection, achieving that sought-after ‘socarrat’—the crispy, caramelised layer at the bottom of the pan that is the Holy Grail of paellas. The chicken was succulent, the artichokes added a subtle earthiness, and the sofrito, a harmonious blend of tomatoes, garlic, and peppers, infused every grain with robust flavour. It was a dish that celebrated the beauty of simplicity, letting the high-quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques truly shine.
Chuletón Steak
The other option was the Chuletón Steak, a juicy, free-range beef steak that was everything you want in a good piece of meat—tender, flavourful, and served with crispy Patatas Bravas and charred padrón peppers. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, its rich, beefy flavour complemented by the spicy kick of the padrón peppers and the crisp, golden potatoes.
The Patatas Bravas were a standout on their own, each bite crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, seasoned with a smoky paprika aioli. For those who love their meat with a bit of flair, this dish didn’t disappoint. The only dilemma was wishing you could have both! Thankfully we shared!!
Desserts: Sweet Endings
Little Farms Churro
No meal is complete without dessert, and the Little Farms Churro was a fitting finale. A beautifully crisp churro (made in-house) with chocolate crumbs, burnt caramel, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream—this dessert had us seriously reconsidering our life choices. Why aren’t all churros served this way?
The churro itself was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, coated in a light dusting of cinnamon sugar. The burnt caramel added a touch of bitterness that balanced the sweetness of the ice cream, while the chocolate crumbs provided a delightful crunch. It was the kind of dessert that leaves you smiling long after the plate is empty.
A Cheese Too Far: The Spanish Cheese Platter That Topped It All
Spanish Cheese Platter
In a moment of overenthusiastic ordering, we decided to go all in and add the optional Spanish Cheese Platter to our meal, while the younger and, frankly, more sensible members of our group wisely opted out.
The platter featured an exquisite selection of Manchego, Semi Aged Mahon, and Carea Raw Milk Rosemary Cheese, accompanied by dried fruits and nuts. Each cheese was exceptional in its own right—the Manchego was firm and nutty, the Mahon slightly sharp with a creamy texture, and the Carea cheese was smooth with a hint of rosemary that lingered on the palate. Paired with the sweet and crunchy dried fruits and nuts, it was a delightful exploration of Spanish dairy craftsmanship.
But by the end of our indulgent feast, overflowing with incredible Spanish dishes, it was, quite literally, a cheese too far! Even we, with our insatiable love for all things cheese, had to admit defeat. Next time, we might just leave the cheese course for another day—unless, of course, we forget this lesson in the face of such tempting dairy delights!
A Wine to Remember
Back to the wine—because, honestly, who can forget the Pares Balta Honeymoon 2022? It paired so well with the entire meal that we were tempted to take a bottle home (or two). The wine’s crisp acidity cut through the richness of the chorizo, while its floral notes complemented the paella beautifully. It’s the kind of wine you’d want to have on hand for any occasion—or for no occasion at all, because why wait?
The wine list at the event was a testament to the diversity and quality of Spanish viticulture. From sparkling Cava to robust reds, there was something to suit every palate. I recommend trying he Marevia Cava Brut Reserva from Valencia whcih I have tried before, it has a crisp, refreshing taste and a great way to kick start your meal, while the Finca Sandoval Salia 2021, has deep, complex flavours that would sit really well with the Chuletón Steak!
Wrapping Up
As the evening drew to a close, the restaurant was filled with contented diners, sharing stories and laughter over the last sips of their wine. The success of the event was evident in the smiles around the room and the warm atmosphere that lingered long after the plates were cleared. People throughout the evening were snapping with with phones and big cameras, so I am sure the internet will be ablaze with images of the fine food at Noches de Fiesta!
We were informed that there will be more Spanish-related events in conjunction with Little Farms in the foreseeable future, so watch this space! If this evening was anything to go by, we’re in for a treat. Whether you’re a lover of Spanish cuisine or just looking for a new Foodie experience, Little Farms is the place to be.
Until then, salud! 🍷
