A Spicy New Beginning at East Village: Lan Da Zui Spicy Hot Pot Replaces Fisherman’s Claypot

Change is sizzling at East Village, Simpang Bedok! The familiar corner that once housed Fisherman’s Claypot is being transformed into Lan Da Zui Spicy Hot Pot, a bold new mala destination. For those who enjoyed Fisherman’s Claypot’s hearty claypots, it’s a bittersweet goodbye after less than a year, but foodies can look forward to a vibrant new chapter. From Claypot Comforts to Mala Magic

The new Lan Da Zui (兰大嘴) is impossible to miss with its glowing red signage, playful mascot, and the promise of “鲜香 麻辣 爽口” (fresh, fragrant, spicy, and satisfying). The fit-out is well underway, with cartons stacked outside and a crew from mainland China installing modern mala hot pot décor. It’s a dramatic shift from the rustic claypot days, setting the stage for a lively, contemporary dining experience.

For the curious, here’s a real sneak peek through the window: neon accents, illuminated menu boards, and a clean, modern interior are coming together. The space is bright and inviting, designed for groups to gather around bubbling pots of mala broth. The transformation is clear as the crew from mainland China installs signature mala fittings and vibrant décor, promising an energetic, contemporary dining experience that’s a far cry from the rustic claypot days.

What’s Coming Soon?

While the menu is still under wraps, expect a fully customizable mala hot pot adventure: choose your broth, pick from a variety of meats, seafood, and fresh vegetables, and create your own dipping sauce. The authentic Sichuan mala promise is sure to attract spice lovers and the curious alike.

Recent Openings at East Village

East Village continues to evolve as a foodie hotspot. Recently, Chef Wok Steamed Delights debuted with their signature steamed dishes and homestyle flavours. Meanwhile, our previous exclusive on Nancy’s Bar closing and Yangzhou Fried Rice taking over has taken a new twist: the unit has since pivoted to Sari Rasa Eating House, offering another Mala option but with a cosy Kopitiam vibe.
