Deng Wen Ji Dining Experience

Deng Wen Ji offers both indoor and outdoor seating. During peak hours, indoor seating can become crowded, making the outdoor area a preferable choice for some patrons. The restaurant’s popularity often results in queues, especially during dinner time. Notably, the Claypot Rice requires approximately 30 minutes to prepare due to its traditional charcoal cooking method; it’s advisable to order this dish in advance.

Everybody needs Good Neighbours!

Deng Wen Ji East Village neighbours Don Lechon

Deng Wen Ji had to great neighbours on our first visit being Don Lechon and Nancy’s Bar, where a symbiotic relationship had formed. You could buy bears at Nancy’s and drink at Deng Wen Ji whilst munching on some incredible Lechon from Kris and the tam at Don Lechon but now Nancy’s Bar closed down a hawker will be popping up right next door so that dynamic might change!

Deng Wen Ji Standout Dishes

  • Hokkien Prawn Noodle: This dish features springy noodles thoroughly coated in a rich, umami broth infused with prawn and pork flavours. The generous addition of eggs and crispy, chunky lard bits enhances its appeal. The Clamansi gave it that tangy taste, maybe ask for one extra calamansi if you like the zest, (we asked for extra chili and they did not disappoint!)
  • Charcoal Claypot Rice: Cooked over charcoal, this dish exudes a delightful smoky aroma. The recipe, crafted by an ex-chef from the renowned Geylang Claypot Rice, boasts over 20 years of expertise. The Chicken was plentiful and those little slices of Chinese sausage added the pop to the taste buds!
