Holy Guacamole Gurney Review – Mexican Restaurant & Bar at G Hotel Central@Gurney
Quick take: Holy Guacamole Gurney is one of the liveliest spots along Gurney Drive – a colourful Mexican restaurant and bar with a proper tequila line-up, a huge food and drinks menu, and a live band playing outside. We dropped in just for drinks, but the place was easily one of the busiest restaurants in the area, helped along by warm, genuinely friendly service.

Holy Guacamole Gurney – First Impressions

Holy Guacamole at Gurney sits just off the lobby of G Hotel at Central@Gurney, facing the seafront promenade of Persiaran Gurney. You get hit with the full Mexican fiesta aesthetic straight away: bold colours, skull artwork, neon details, and a bar that looks ready for a long night rather than a quick in-and-out meal.

We arrived in the evening, and Holy Guacamole Gurney was already buzzing. Every other restaurant in the stretch felt busy, but this one was packed – groups at tables, families, couples at the bar, and plenty of people settling in for a long session. A live band was performing just outside, adding to the atmosphere without overpowering conversation inside.

Even though we only stopped by for drinks, the team welcomed us as if we were settling in for a full Mexican feast. Menus arrived quickly, waters were offered, and the staff checked in regularly without hovering. That balance of relaxed and attentive is exactly what you want from a bar-driven restaurant.

Holy Guacamole Drinks, Cocktails & Tequila Bar at Gurney

If you like a proper drinks list with your tacos, Holy Guacamole Gurney has you covered. The drinks menu runs through happy hour deals, signature cocktails, wine, bottled beer, mocktails, sodas, juices, and hot drinks – a full bar rather than a token list.

Happy hour runs from 12pm to 8pm with margaritas and daiquiris available classic or frozen, and you can choose your flavour – think lime, peach, strawberry, passion fruit, mango and more. Draught beer is on tap (Tiger, Guinness, Heineken) and there are towers if you are settling in with a group.

The cocktail section leans into the Mexican theme: sangria (roja and blanca), mojitos, palomas, Micheladas, Mezcalitas, Soju Bulldogs and the very on-brand Coronarita. Prices sit mostly in the RM30–RM40 range, which is fair value for a Gurney Drive bar inside a hotel complex.

The back bar carries a long list of spirits: whiskies and single malts, bourbons, vodkas, gins, rums and a healthy line-up of tequilas and mezcal, available by the shot or bottle. There are bottled beers like Tiger, Apple Fox, Anchor, Heineken, Corona and soju, plus red and white house wines by the glass or bottle.

For the non-drinkers or designated drivers, there is a decent soft option range: mocktails (Virgin Mojito, Virgin Pina Colada, Virgin Margarita, Shirley Temple), soda coolers in several flavours, soft drinks, juices and basic hot drinks like coffee and Milo.

We started with classic mojitos, which came out cold, balanced and refreshing – not over-sweet, with enough mint and lime to cut through the evening humidity on Gurney Drive. Complimentary nachos arrived with salsa, a nice touch that kept us nibbling while people-watching.

Holy Guacamole Food Menu at Gurney – Big, Bold & Mexican

Although we did not eat on this visit (this was strictly a drinks stop), it would be unfair not to mention just how extensive the Holy Guacamole food menu is. Even a quick look through the pages shows you that this isn’t a token “Tex-Mex” corner – it is a full Mexican restaurant line-up.

The menu starts with salads and antojitos – things like Mex-Bim-Bap salad bowls, Greek salad, Mexican Fiesta salad, fried calamari, house-made totopos and elote (grilled corn on the cob with mayo, lime, cheese and tajín). There are plenty of vegetarian-friendly items clearly marked.

From there you move into nachos, wings, French fries with chilli and lime, and then the main event: tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas and “all time favourites”. Fillings cover chicken, pulled beef, lamb, prawns, fish and vegetables – plus combinations for those who want a bit of everything in one plate.

The taco section alone offers choices like Holy Taco Chicken, Pulled Beef Barbacoa, Cordero (lamb), Camaron (prawn), Al Pastor, Carne Asada and more, usually served on soft corn tortillas with salsa roja, cabbage, lettuce and cheese. There are upgrade options and combo platters if you are sharing.

Enchiladas and quesadillas give similar flexibility, while the fajitas come sizzling to the table on hot plates with tortillas and sides – a classic crowd-pleaser for groups. There are also hearty burritos, deep-fried chimichangas and a handful of international comfort dishes like burgers and pizzas if someone in the group is less adventurous.

To finish, there are simple desserts such as churros with cinnamon sugar and chocolate sauce, tiramisu a la Mexicana and ice cream by the scoop. It is the sort of “something for everyone” menu that works well in a mall-hotel location like Gurney, especially for families or mixed groups.

Holy Guacamole Gurney – Menu Highlights

  • Wide Mexican menu covering salads, nachos, wings, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos and desserts.
  • Large list of margaritas, daiquiris and tequila-based cocktails plus draught beer, bottled beer, wine and spirits.
  • Vegetarian and vegan options clearly marked across the food menu.
  • Mocktails, juices and soft drinks for non-drinkers and families.
  • Portion sizes and style look ideal for sharing plates with a group.

Holy Guacamole Service & Atmosphere at Gurney

Service and hospitality at Holy Guacamole Gurney were excellent from the moment we walked in. Staff were warm, welcoming and efficient – quick with menus, happy to explain drinks options and always ready with a smile. It had the feel of a team that genuinely enjoys the job rather than going through the motions.

The atmosphere is what sells the place, especially if you are staying at G Hotel or nearby. With the live band outside, the colourful interiors, the busy bar and the mix of locals and tourists, Holy Guacamole Gurney feels more like a city night-out venue than a standard mall restaurant. It is the kind of place you could easily pop into for “one drink” and end up still there when the band is playing its last song.

Loft Gurney – Holy Guacamole’s Neighbour

Right next door to Holy Guacamole Gurney is Loft Gurney, a sister outlet from the same group. Loft leans more into the bar and lounge feel, giving you another option if you want to move somewhere slightly different later in the evening without leaving the building.

Between Holy Guacamole and Loft, the group has effectively turned this corner of Central@Gurney into its own little nightlife pocket, which is handy if you are staying at G Hotel and want variety without having to get in a Grab.
