Cubano from the film Chef

Cubano from the film Chef For breakfast this morning I had some very lucky family. They got Cubano from the film Chef. It's one of my all time favourite films. How could it not be, being such a foodie. Written, Directed and lead role from the amazing John Favreau. That film was also a major influence on the new tattoos. Bless him! Anyways to Cubano from the film Chef. Cubano is a Cuban sandwich. It's a style of a good old UK favourite of a ham and cheese sandwich. It apparently originated ...

Avocado with prawns, lime, coriander and bacon bits

Avocado with prawns, lime, coriander and bacon bits Avocado with prawns, lime, coriander and bacon bits, was a new recipe I made up for a ChillaxBBQ we did this weekend for a friends birthday. It turned out to be a head-turner, with many asking for more and more, and also for the recipe. So in the spirit of ChillaxBBQ sharing, here is that new recipe from us. Believe me this is simple and it is bloody good! Ready to rock? This made quite a bowl full. Plenty for a family nibble. Avocado ...

Lucy Ashenhurt’s 21st ChillaxBBQ Birthday

ChillaxBBQ @ Lucy Ashenhurt's 21st Birthday So today was a ChillaxBBQ lite, and a massive Birthday surprise for Flash's gorgeous wife Lucy. This was ChillaxBBQ @ Lucy Ashenhurt's 21st Birthday. Managed by stealth, Flash had organised a massage for he and Lucy, so that all could arrive at their new gaff and be standing awaiting the SURPRISE shout and singing of happy birthday as she literally dismounted her push-bike. It worked and it worked well. Nothing was prepped as Flash had to keep it a ...

Mr Kliman’s ChillaxBBQ

Mr Kliman's ChillaxBBQ Our first gig in Holland Village today for Mr Kliman's ChillaxBBQ. Met as a client, and now a mate. Will be sad to see him go when he moves back to Oz. The crew was honoured to be asked to do the food for his birthday party, round his gaff, and what a beautiful house it is too. Wow!!! Picture paints a thousand words so I will let the photos do the talking re the food. A few new things today, as mad rush to get in the LaLa caused me to forget a couple of things. Improv ...

Roo’s Restaurant on Frankel Avenue, Siglap

Roo's Restaurant on Frankel Avenue, Siglap OK I have had two major recommendations to visit this place for food. Apparently open since January, having taken over from Jag's, initially just selling drinks but now  rather cool mixed bag restaurant too. The menu is quite large and aa mix of Western and Indian food style. Big screens for sport and leather loungers, awesome. This is Roo's Restaurant on Frankel Avenue, Siglap. This place is a gem. This is a MUST try on East Coast, or the whole of ...

BeBe’s undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue

BeBe's undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue So BeBe's birthday was today but it became BeBe's undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue, because she completely forgot how old she is today. Too funny. But anyways, that aside, we had such a lovely family time at one of our favourite locals, down with Jack and his gang at Shao's. So lucky to get in though as it was PACKED with reservations. Wow!!! Let's do some photos and things of the lovely night for BeBe's undetermined birthday ...

Pork Belly Fondue

Pork Belly Fondue Now I did this recipe for Pork Belly Fondue years ago, long before ChillaxBBQ and the knowledge of our mates at The Cheese Shop @ Joo Chiat. So how about I just tidy up the original recipe, and then have a crack at ChillaxBBQ to make an updated version of the recipe for our next up and coming BBQ. If you're up for it give us a bell. The French word, Fondre, is a verb meaning to melt. It's of Swiss, French and Italian origins it seems. Basically melted cheese, chocolate or ...

Black Pudding and Fried Bread

Black Pudding and Fried Bread Am I a good parent? Breakfast on this 16th August, and a decision to not fast-food it, but also not really sure of calorie intake. I just forced it on my Mary and my kids. I loved it. They did too. About four years taken off their lives though. It was worth it - this is my Black Pudding and Fried Bread. It goes like this for enough for four people to have a near heart attack experience of Black Pudding and Fried Bread. 6 slices of white bread - cut ...
